Stewart Regan could become latest casualty in saga after email leak

Recommended Posts

this isnt bad decision making. Its corruption at the highest level. Its bloody criminal. We should be right on the phone to Fifa and Uefa reporting this lot. the last thing on this lots mind was sporting integrity.

whats the chances of dragging a few othewrs down to division three with us in the name of sporting integrity?

How can this idiot still be in a job? Unbelievable.

One thing I can assure you of, Regan is no idiot, misguided perhaps, out his depth certainly, but not an idiot.

The email proves conclusively that he is an administrator and a pretty damn good one at that. It covers all the late night discussions and sets out what has to happen next for the SFA/SPL plans to work.

The play-offs, pyramid system, redistribution of monies and amalgamation of the leagues are all good ideas that are supported by the fans and the latter at least by the SPL.

(He aslo did an enormous job in his first year at the SFA working with McLeish and getting rid of the cumbersome and outmoded committee system.)

Where he goes wrong is in totally misjudging the reaction of the SFL clubs to pushing Rangers into SFL1; but how much is he to blame for that as he was working with SFL President Jim Ballantyne and CEO David Longmuir and being pushed very hard all the way by Doncaster on behalf of the vested interests in the SPL?

What kills him, however, is the para "In parallel to A-D above, could Rod Petrie please brief Charles Green confidentially on the discussions from a Scottish FA perspective so that there are 'no surprises' and there is a general acceptance of the plan plus all of the other conditions discussed e.g. transfer embargo, fines, repayment of football debt, waiving rights to legal challenge, acceptance of relegation and so on".

He should never have committed that to an email if he wanted it to remain confidential. The first law of email is never say something in an email that you wouldn't want repeated outside an email; because, as far more important men and institutions have found out recently, they never stay confidential for long.

That plus his misguided comments about social unrest are why he has to go.

It would be interesting to speculate on who leaked it, Ballantyne perhaps or Longmuir?

who is the Andrew they refer to?

Andrew Niven, in theory he is their "National Teams Administrator" but he has a role on the Disciplinary side and was delegated to deal with some aspects of the JRG. Middle management if you like, not an important player in this.

It would place Longmuir, the new Messiah, in an interesting spot should he be the leak. I mean, you can see why you'd want this info in the open, but leaking is leaking, hardly the sort of thing you'd want your top men doing.

Or, it could be media hacking. Who knows?

In any case, the club shall not agree to any sanctions, especially the embargo. If Regan presses on this, Rangers should sue the SFA for coercion.

Thats exactly what it is. We have the ammunition to run a juggernaut right through the SFA now.

Can we do that?

Not just in a legal sense would it be worth our while, unless something more than being left alone by the SFA and their helpers. Something like, at least, paying our legal costs if we win, because I'm getting sickand tired of all this legalise in the game.

Public opinion should be enough as it was in creating the hatred that got us booted out in the most undignified way possible.
