Rangers Unite Statement

The RST will not be folding. Neither will we be contacting the Executive Admin Assistant to beg to be in their gang. As Bluedell pointed out, our Board is elected by our members. I wonder how many people at the meeting could say the same.

You missed my point.

It's a hypothetical situation. If the RST was to disappear, what then?

How do we get shares?

What of the RST folded?

How would we buy shares then?

I'm obviously clueless about shares in football teams

All fans will be able to buy shares when the club has its share issue. They can buy them from the club, apparently for a minimum of £500.

However, as I understand it, what the RST are proposing is a membership scheme whereby fans can buy shares through their scheme. I believe that the 2 advantages of this will be that fans can buy into this for a lower amount and also the scheme will have greater power as it will have more shares than your average punter. It seems that the long term goal will be to get enough shares to buy the club.

Really? I was under the impression that that was not the case. When I was last a member of the RST, most of the committee seemed to be co-opted onto the board.

How many members are there at this time?

I think that those who are co-opted have their place ratified at the following AGM, although nt sure if they still follow the same procedure.

Were they opposed. Although part of this is that your average member will have no idea who to vote for - just like in politics. However, politics gets round that with the party system, election campaigns and media exposure. Just who do you vote for between Nigel Nobody and Harry Who?

What ends up happening is that those already on the board persuade people who they think will be like minded and willing to join them and they are elected unopposed. Other times you end up with the only people that feel obligated or interested in doing it.

Saying you are democratically elected and chosen to represent your members is sometimes a bit of a stretch in many cases.

I think that's a fair comment.

However, at least there is a semblence of it and members can vote against people that are proposed, but it is admittedly very difficult for your rank and file member to get anything through that the Board don't want.
