Transfer news: Mehdi Taouil will leave Hearts when contract expires

Hearts have announced that midfielder Mehdi Taouil will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of May.

Mehdi, signed by former manager Jim Jefferies, joined the club in the summer of 2011 from Kilmarnock, following a four-year spell at Rugby Park.

The Moroccan made 68 appearances for Hearts, including a run out as a substitute in the 5-1 Scottish Cup Final triumph over Hibernian last summer.

Defender Danny Grainger is also leaving, joining Darren Barr, Gordon Smith, Denis Prychynenko and George Scott, who are all looking to pursue their careers away from Tynecastle.

If Hertz are in an insolvency situation, can someone explain to me why there's no talk of them being thrown out the SPL and having to apply to the SFL for membership ? have the rules changed since last summer ?

The decision regarding out membership of the SPL was due to the Newco being formed & the SPL share not being transferred, not because we were in administration. As it stands just now, Hearts are not in administration and its still not clear if their parent company are legally insolvent - they have requested to be listed as insolvent, don't know if its official yet. You then get the issue of whether Hearts FC are financially reliant on the parent company, or if the bank decides to call in its £15m debt.

The 2 situations are VERY different.

Remember, the only punishment we received from the SPL for going into administration was a 10-point deduction....nothing else.
