We seem to be 'encouraging' bids for Lee Wallace

Hutton went for 9 million because Spurs went mad based on seeing him attack to great effect in Champion's League games. they presumed he could also defend. They soon found out he could not. Harry Redknapp in a revealing interview, praised his attitude in training (a long time ago, then) and said he was a "fantastic lad" but "simply could not defend". Hutton was an utter liability at Spurs, no idea of positioning, tackling or really anything to do with defending at all. Like many of our full back he spent 90% of his time with us attacking.

How Wallace would cope with the demands of defending in a top league is something as yet untested. Hutton was starring (albeit in an offensive role) in the SPL which, crap though it is, is far ahead of where Wallace has starred and in the Champs League. the latter adding millions to a sale. Hutton was nowhere near good enough for the EPL, to judge all players worth by his (million tag is nuts. it's like judging all strikers by Andy Carroll (or Tore Andre Flo's) scandalous price tags.

Wallace has been great for us but against English league rank of some two or three leagues below the Conference. I hope he goes on to captain us into the top flight. I like him a lot but he is currently nowhere near being "a £6 million player", and Billy Davies did nothing wrong, Rangers would have offered the same if the situations had been reversed. Typing "end of" is akin to typing "FACT" at the end of forum posts - they seem to always indicate that the reverse is the case.
