Both were appointed last month – before Dave King’s consortium won control at Ibrox – and have been tasked with overseeing the under-15 and under-13 squads respectively. Craig Mulholland, now in charge of youth operations at Murray Park after Jim Sinclair’s departure late last year, has also drafted in former Hearts striker Andy Kirk. The ex-Northern Ireland cap – most recently with Alloa until the end of last season – is assisting Speirs, who ended a five-year stint in charge of Queen’s Park in 2013. Mulholland feels his experience bringing through young talent such as Andrew Robertson at Queen’s and in previous roles at Ross County and Aberdeen can help Rangers. Thomson has returned to the club having previously worked there under Alex McLeish, who recruited the former Dons youth after being impressed by him when they were both at Hibs. elfideldo 410 Posted March 19, 2015 Share Posted March 19, 2015 There are plenty scouts at youth level. Andy Kirk has been there a while, his son McKenzie plays for one of the younger teams. Malky Thomson was back briefly last season, he is a good coach, the players and parents like him. I haven't seen Gardner Spiers so far. Craig Mulholland Head of Academy Craig joined Rangers in 2003 as Football in the Community Manager and designed and started the clubs Football in the Community Programme. Having joined from the SFA where he had several roles, the last of which was Senior Youth Development Officer, he created the FITC programme which became a national award winning initiative and launched a range of activities and courses both at home and overseas. As a young player Craig played for Queens Park, Hamilton Accies, Dumbarton and Alloa Athletic before joining the SFA during which time he also coached the youth and reserve team at Queens Park. In 2006, after a short spell as Acting Academy Director, Craig took on the role of Academy Operations Manager and coach of the U15 & U16 group. In January 2015 Craig was promoted to the role of Head of Academy and is currently driving forward a new strategy which will result in a new culture, environment and playing style with the aim of making the Academy one of the best in Europe. Craig is graduate from Glasgow University and holds the UEFA A Licence, Youth Licence, Childrens Licence and Youth Directors Award.
