McCall: I want the Rangers job next season so I can help rebuild the club

Recommended Posts

He has achieved nothing of note in his near 10 year management career. Sacked from league 2 with Bradford and took Motherwell to a relegation battle, with 5 straight defeats. McCall at 50 isn't going to suddenly turn into a great manager. He is nowhere near good enough and hopefully our next manager has absolutely nothing to do with Scottish football.

Im in agreement with you, thats what I mean by his previous CV doesnt do him much good.

An option would be to unearth the next Eddie Howe. What he has done is remarkable. The guy at Norwich who went from Hamilton also has done well in the last 2 years. Im not saying go for these guys or the likes but it shows there has to be some young ambitious managers / coaches out there.

Celtic have brought in an unknown guy from Norway and over the season has changed the way they play, so a punt at someone from the not so elite Euro leagues is another option.

But we should be looking now regardless.

I agree with this. If we want to start getting high quality personnel at the club we are going to have to take risks and focus on those with potential. We cannot afford the finished article unless it's mediocrity from the Scottish leagues.

Ooh, it's like a buffet. Few good players there.

Nile Ranger? C'mon...

Steve McLaren could be available in 2 hours time as Derby are losing meaning they could miss out on the play offs. For the majority of the season he has done well and is someone who would appeal to me at Ibrox

He was being linked with Premiership jobs recently. We will have to get much more realistic than that.

He is only being linked with Newcastle. So for him it could be either Ashley or Ashley.

Its an ambitious punt but why not?

He was linked with Villa recently too. We aren't going to be going from the ex Motherwell manager to someone managing at a high level in England!

What wages is McCall on? Possibly £100k? McClaren is probably on £1m +
