Words of wisdom? I shudder to think...

"Right Mark...if the you find that bypassing the midfield and punting the ball twenty times to the strikers is not working, don't worry. Just keep trying. Football by chance and not design is the future."

"Remember you'll need a limited player like Lee McCulloch/Christian Dailly to fit badly into various positions and be an empty jersey. He'll also offer some dig...ie. foul after foul...."

"Play as many players as you can out of position"

"Don't practice any dead balls or corners. It's a waste of time"

"Get Coisty or Duranty in the background to keep the lads happy"

"If you have a player that shows any signs of skill, make sure you drum that out of him by benching him or playing him in the wrong position"

And so on, and so on....

As much as I will always be appreciative of what Walter has done for Rangers, that door should be closed. It's the past and that's where it should stay. IMO our obsession with continually looking back has held us back over the last 10 years or so. It's short termism at it's worst. We need a fresh start. A blank sheet of paper. We need to move on and give this guy the time and space to help rebuild our club and lay the foundations for the next 10/20/30 years.

yeah in the real world you need to be boring to be successful.

In the real world is far easier to be successful if you focus on what it takes to be successful, rather than worrying about whether people think you look good, or whether they entertain everyone.

not in the entertainment business. Plus this isnt about a person but a commodity . The shinier the commodity while retaining its use the more attention it will demand.

On the same note you can be utterly attractive and entertaining and still win nothing. What do you want then? At best a combination of both, success and entertainment. In reality, you do not get that ... especially in the region Rangers play their trade.

Point is, if people start cherry-picking solely negatives they are bound to get flak by those looking at the wider picture. And to say that Sir Walter was only successful with boring stuff or did the above-listed throughout his career is bordering on defamation ...

The two are not exclusive. At no point does winning need to be sacrificed for style or vice versa. just ask the most successful clubs in the world who also attract the biggest level of support through their entertainment levels.

we obviously cant produce teams like madrid and barca but we can produce the ethos.

its harder to win playing great football when you have high levels of competition domestically like arsenal face.

Winning in scotland is easy you pretty much have one team to beat. There is no excuse for not being able to do it with at least a modicum of style.

And you would state here and now that Walter's side hardly ever did that?
