20s Take On United

Recommended Posts

FOLLOWING a dramatic draw against Motherwell last week in the SPFL Development League Ian Durrant's under-20 side travel to Brechin to face Dundee United.

The Gers have started the season well and are currently undefeated in the League having won two matches and drawn two. They sit second in the League, a point behind Celtic who have won their first three matches and have a game in hand.

Last week, Durrant's side were depleted due to international duty for many of the normal squad and fielded a young side against Motherwell.

The Steelmen took the lead after just eight minutes of the game and the Gers youngsters battled back to lead 2-1 but it was some poor defending that led to visitors’ equaliser in the 71st minute.

Centre-half David Brownlie got Rangers first from close range but it was Northern Irishman Jordan Thompson who stole the show with a near perfect free-kick on the half hour mark – his first goal for the club.

Tonight's opponents Dundee United are also undefeated in the Development League this season after drawing with Dundee and Ross County 1-1 and defeating last season's league winners Aberdeen 2-0.

Durrant told RangersTV that he expects a tough match this evening against an experienced United side: "It will be a tough game against Dundee United. They’ll add in a bit more experience and a bit more grit in terms of defending.”

We'll have live coverage on Twitter HERE a match report and post match reaction on the club website tonight followed by match highlights and reactions from Ian Durrant and a player after the match.
