Rumour - Josh Brownhill

Recommended Posts

Lifted from FF:

Scottish giants Rangers and Celtic are both battling it out for the signature of Preston North End's highly-rated midfielder Josh Brownhill.

20-year-old Brownhill, who is out-of-contract in the summer, is yet to sign a new deal which has been offered by Preston and although the club will receive compensation, the amount will be a lot less than if he was to join an English club.

Both Glasgow clubs see the opportunity to capitalise and are trying to sign the player on a pre-contract fending off interest from a number of Premier League and Championship clubs.

It is understood that Liverpool, West Ham, Stoke, Southampton, Bournemouth, Wolves and Bristol City have all scouted the player in recent weeks with a view to persuading the player his future remains south of the border.

Brownhill, who is currently on loan at Barnsley, has been in fine form in recent weeks. He has played an integral part in a run which sees them just outside the play off zone and with a trip to Wembley in the Johnstones Paint Trophy already secured.

Since making his debut at 17 he has over 60 professional games under his belt and the one-time Manchester United youth is now seemingly set for another big move.

One thing about MW is the majority of Rangers fans trust him and he believes in himself when it comes to signing the right players, sure there will be some signings that don't quite work out but that is normal with signing players, but our management team are meticulous in their scrutiny before thinking about signing players
