ian1964 10,514 Posted March 3, 2016 Share Posted March 3, 2016 Lifted from FF: Scottish giants Rangers and Celtic are both battling it out for the signature of Preston North End's highly-rated midfielder Josh Brownhill. 20-year-old Brownhill, who is out-of-contract in the summer, is yet to sign a new deal which has been offered by Preston and although the club will receive compensation, the amount will be a lot less than if he was to join an English club. Both Glasgow clubs see the opportunity to capitalise and are trying to sign the player on a pre-contract fending off interest from a number of Premier League and Championship clubs. It is understood that Liverpool, West Ham, Stoke, Southampton, Bournemouth, Wolves and Bristol City have all scouted the player in recent weeks with a view to persuading the player his future remains south of the border. Brownhill, who is currently on loan at Barnsley, has been in fine form in recent weeks. He has played an integral part in a run which sees them just outside the play off zone and with a trip to Wembley in the Johnstones Paint Trophy already secured.
