'Once a bear, always a bear': Wife of slain footballer Arnold Peralta in solidarity message with Rangers fans

ARNOLD Peralta's widow Vanessa Oliva posted a photo of herself and their daughter Camila in Rangers strips after fans leapt to her defence following tabloid allegations.

THE widow of murdered ex-Rangers star Arnold Peralta, slain in broad daylight in December last year, has posted a message of solidarity with Gers fans.

Rangers fans reacted with fury after reports in a downmarket English tabloid suggested that Peralta was murdered because he was having an affair with a teenage girl.

Now Vanessa Oliva has tweeted a pic of herself and their child in Rangers tops, with the message: 'Once a bear, always a bear. #rangersfamily #arnoldperalta."

Within minutes of the posting both hashtags were trending in Glasgow and throughout Scotland as Rangers fans tweeted back their support.

The Honduran star, who played 25 times for the Gers and was a close friend of Celtic's Emilio Izzaguire , was gunned down in broad daylight in shopping centre in the port city of La Ceibain, just yards from his wife and a friend.

At the time, Vanessa opened her heart on her Instagram account where she described the footballer as “the love of my life”

She said in a post alongside a photo of her wrapping her arms round her husband and kissing him on the cheek: “I look at Heaven with tears in my eyes.

“Who was going to imagine this day without you?

“I miss you so much. Things will never be the same without you"

Fans slammed the tabloid's coverage on Twitter, calling it "disgusting" and backed Vanessa's show of strength.

@vaneliz21 I'm sure Arnold will be looking down from Heaven with a smile on his face.

Best of luck to you and your young one.

Police have stated they are hunting a “mastermind” behind the shooting.

Six men, aged 22 to 47, were held during dawn raids in January, along with a 34-year-old woman.

Peralta was at Ibrox between 2013 and 2015 and was capped 26 times for Hondura

Spot on Ian, I never, ever, click on a link to a Scottish paper, and if the article is reproduced as above, I get the info without giving hits to businesses that are against our club. If the article is not copied I do without. Simples.
