Ladbrokes to extend £2million SPFL sponsorship for another season

Ladbrokes are set to extend their multi-million pound sponsorship of the SPFL.

 

The betting giants have agreed a one-year extension on their current deal that sees them back the four senior divisions of our game.

 

The new contract – believed to be worth more than £2million for the season – will also carry a one-year extension option and has been ratified by all 42 senior clubs.

 

Sources close to the deal have confirmed the contracts have been signed and an official announcement will follow in the next 24 hours.

 

Ladbrokes began their sponsorship of Scottish football in May 2015 when they were announced as title backers with a two-year deal.

 

The initial contract was the biggest in the league’s history, worth more than £4m across two years. It came in the wake of a two-year period where the SPFL couldn’t find a backer after Clydesdale Bank ended their association in 2013.

 

A league insider said: “Every club had done their bit and agreed the deal.

 

"Ladbrokes have been fantastic partners for Scottish football and both brands have benefited from the sponsorship. Their continued backing gives our game stability and real cause to look forward with optimism.”

 

Despite the company’s recent multi-million pound merger with Coral, the league will remain the Ladbrokes SPFL.
