Rangers (Morelos 5) 1 - 3 St Johnstone

Recommended Posts

Typical Saints game. Right in our faces for about 20 mins, then dropping deeper and do a sterling defensive job, waiting on breaks. At the time a deserved - albeit lucky - equalizer, after that we took the game to them without threatening.

Very strange to see Morelos mimicking Miller in running all over the place. We need a creative chap in the middle, so Alfredo stays up front ... and I'd chuck Tav, since he's again just a passenger with no end product whatsoever. The threat of the Saints can be spread amongst the back three.

Typical St. Johnstone game. Essentially, it is Easter Road revisited, only that we weren't the defending team. Or Accies. Three shots on goal from the team doing the counter attacks, three goals. Two of the Sunday afternoon variety, but they all count.

IMHO, big mistake to send Morelos into a Miller role, playing too many MFs and not removing Tavernier when creativity was needed. Saints were always hard to break down and dangerous on the counter, kudos to them, but we never rose to that challenge, never had any creativity on the park, tried the dancing instead of the shooting route and paid the price. Another three points wasted at home ... and you wonder when we start to learn from it.
