Club 1872 Launches £1m Share Issue Campaign

Dear Member,

Club 1872 is today launching its campaign to raise £1m, to be invested in the upcoming share issue of Rangers International Football Club Plc (RIFC).

As the second largest shareholder in RIFC, Club 1872 sees this share issue as an opportunity for the organisation to maintain its shareholding position, make the transition from being a shareholding fans group to one of the major, ongoing investors in Rangers and to make a significant financial contribution to our football club.

Working together, with the scale and loyalty of our support, we believe Club 1872 can contribute millions of pounds directly to Rangers over the next couple of years and beyond - both through this upcoming share issue and those that will take place in the future.

Bruce Taylor, Club 1872 Director said:

“It is our role as directors to ensure that the support as a whole understands the potential impact Club 1872 can have on the future success of Rangers Football Club.

With the size of the Rangers support, the opportunity is there to contribute millions of pounds a year directly to Rangers, both through share issues and potential fan driven projects like safe standing.

Club 1872 is here to be used by our supporters as a simple vehicle to accelerate the process of taking Rangers back to its rightful position at the top of Scottish football. Contributing through Club 1872 is also the only way that most supporters are likely to be able to participate in this upcoming share issue.

We have seven thousand members already but our aim is to have thousands more and we are urging all Rangers supporters to join us and help spread the word of what we can achieve together.”

Laura Fawkes, Club 1872 Director said:

“We all know that Rangers is a massive club, but the landscape of European football is changing, with huge amounts of TV money pouring into the big leagues like England and Spain. As a Club, we need to find ways of playing to our strengths to rebuild and develop, and without a doubt our key strength is the size and loyalty of our support. We know that fans already back the club with large amounts of money through season ticket and merchandise purchases, but by giving a little extra - from just £5 per month - we can make a huge difference.”

“One of the central messages we’re delivering today is that if we act together, fans can provide substantial additional revenue streams for Rangers. For the price of two pints each month, we can help rebuild our club. For the price of a pie and a bovril each month, we can leave a lasting legacy and show future generations that we fought for our club so that they would never have to experience what we have over the last few years.”

“Most Rangers supporters aren’t millionaires, but they don’t need to be because together we can invest millions of pounds in Rangers Football Club. The upcoming share issue will give Club 1872 its first opportunity to bring supporters together to do just that.”

Euan MacFarlane, Club 1872 Director said:

“£1m is an ambitious target but we have only scratched the surface of what a support of our size can achieve. There are many simple ways for Rangers supporters to help. If they haven’t already joined then we’d urge them to do so via our website - it takes five minutes and donations can start from as little as £5 per month. A small contribution from each and every one of us can make a huge difference to Rangers. Annual subscriptions work best for us as they will allow us to raise funds quickly ahead of this share issue but any contribution is welcomed.

We are also asking existing members to make additional one off contributions to allow us to hit our target in advance of this upcoming share issue.

Although we don’t know the exact number of shares that Club1872 will be offered yet, there is the potential for us to invest £1m or more in this share issue alone. We know how much Rangers supporters already contribute to the club through traditional means, but our message is that by each and every one of us giving a small amount more through Club 1872 we can achieve great things.”

Members will be receving a number of emails over the coming days to explain how you can help us to meet our target. We'd also ask you to keep an eye on our social media feeds where Club 1872 directors will be discussing the upcoming campaign and more general aspects of the work of Club 1872.

This will be a huge year for Club 1872 and we would like to thank you all for your support over the coming weeks and months.

Looks like the safe standing is a given and Club1872 are paying for it. Totally against this while we are under 25% of share issue. One thing at a time, let’s get a representative on RIFC board.

With the number of fans we have globally 1 million should be a walk in the park to achieve.  Though we know it wont be unfortunately.

Craig, the RST raised £250k in under a week in 2012 because people knew it was going directly to the Club so it’s achievable.

Except I didn’t say it was unachievable... I said it probably won’t be as easy as it should be.

It's still frustrating that C1872 decided not to put the last lot of cash for share purchases into the club and it went to third parties instead...without giving members the choice,  despite their claims that members are consulted over everything.

Club 1872 £1m Share Issue Campaign - Update and Information

Dear Member,

Club 1872 launched its £1m share campaign last night and the reaction over the last 24 hours has been massively positive. We are asking each and every one of you for your help in meeting our goal, recruiting new members and raising £1m to go directly into Rangers in the next couple of months.

1) An extensive Q&A appeared today in the Evening Times with Club 1872 Directors, Bruce Taylor, Euan Macfarlane and Laura Fawkes. This gives an outline of the huge potential of Club 1872 and ways in which every existing member can help us.

You can view the Q&A here

2) Club 1872 Directors delivered a presentation to members last night at Ibrox. The presentation slides can be viewed here.

If any RSCs or groups are interested in having the presentation delivered to them then please email engagement@club1872.co.uk to put a date in the calendar. We will also be delivering many of the presentation highlights via video content on social media and email over the coming weeks.

3) Club 1872 Director Laura Fawkes also appeared on the Heart and Hand podcast today to explain more about the share issue campaign and her time at Club 1872 - including an insight into last year's share purchase from MASH holdings. You can listen to the podcast here

4) Finally a big thank you to Lanzarote Loyal RSC who today donated £300 via our one-off donation option on the website. In doing so they became what we hope will be the the first of many RSCs to make such a donation.

Anyone can make a one-off donation and 100% of the funds raised through this method will be used for upcoming share issues. This means every penny will go directly to Rangers from Club 1872. It does not alter your existing monthly subscription but is a great way of topping up the share fund and getting more funds into the club as we continue our return to the top of Scottish football.

To make a one off donation please click here

Please look out for many more emails over the coming days and weeks about how you can help us to meet our £1m target. A huge thank you to those of you who have already increased your monthly donations or made one-off donations since last night.

the aim is 25% +1 shares......

that's a good start

That’s what 100% of their energy and money should be spent on, not spending  on a vanity project for 50 so called Ultras.

Unless some of the existing shareholders either decline their pre-emotion rights at future share issues or sell directly to Club1872, its difficult to see how a 25% holding will ever be possible in the face of continuous dilution.
