A lot of "normal" spaces have been changed into disabled spaces in the Albion car park. I'd guess that the number of spaces for disabled have more than doubled.

I guess that this will result in a reduction in the number of people who are able to turn up and pay on the day.

Well done to the club on doing this.

Do people book disabled spaces in advance?

the corner of the car park closest to the ground has always been reserved for disabled. You have to be registered with the club and get some sort of pass to get into that area. There are staff there to check on it and to allow access.

However the new spaces are unmanned and it seems anyone can park in them. Hopefully there will be some sort of check going forward to ensure that people are displaying their blue badge to get in them.

Unless they control access to disabled parking I can guarantee it won't be respected by everyone.

Been a long, long time coming.

Recently the lines in the car park were repainted but no disabled bays were painted in, this wasn't acceptable and we told them so, the Club to their credit held their hands up and admitted it was an error that no BS 8300 disabled bays had been created but they would rectify that as soon as practicable. They have done that and we thank them for doing so as this will make a massive difference to wheelchair users.

Among the comments I've received over the last 2 days are, "fantastic", "brilliant", "amazing", "it's like Christmas". Something as simple as painting some lines on a car park will make a disproportionate difference to the match day experience for wheelchair users who use the Albion car park.

We do need to come up with a way of ensuring these most welcome spaces are not abused and I'm confident between ourselves and the Club we should be able to do so.
