Broadfoot And Morelos Both Escape Any Punishment

Recommended Posts

KIRK BROADFOOT could land in the dock along with Alfredo Morelos after their Saturday spat at Ibrox.

The Kilmarnock defender and the Rangers hitman clashed as they left the field at half-time.

The incident was reviewed by an SFA panel yesterday and a decision will be made this afternoon on whether the pair will be cited by compliance officer Claire Whyte.

If Colombian striker Morelos is hit with another notice of complaint he will miss the Old Firm game at Parkhead on Sunday week.

Referee Greg Aitken was facing the other way when he lashed out at the Killie stopper.

TV pictures appear to show Broadfoot raking his studs down the back of Morelos’ ankle before he reacts.

Blatant cheating in the form of diving, feigning injury or something like Broadfoot did on Saturday tends to be (alongside spitting on an opponent) seen as the lowest of the low and in the world of the Scottish Fitbaw Hacks is pounced upon and squeezed for all it's worth.

However, because Alfredo is involved, he shares the stage.

In any case, Rangers - and any other club - should demand that the panel members as well as the referees deciding in the first place should be named and their pedigree and reasons published.

It simply is not on that no-names in shadowy rooms decide on the well-being of the game. Likewise, the referees deciding should give a written explanation why any sort of penalty is given or not given, citing the relevant laws of the game.

We saw Candeias being sent off for being man-handled by an opposition defender, and the appeal was rejected. We saw Simunovic floor Shaw with a blatant elbow attack (caught on camera) and there was no evidence for even a yellow card. Brown can wade through blood without getting a card ... it is simply not on.

The system as is,... is plainly NOT fit for purpose and I think the recent general consensus is that there will be change for next season.

For me there has to be transparency and fair consistency when it comes to citing players.

What is effectively, 'trial by Sportscene' is an embarrassing disgrace.

I'd televise the panel debating the various cases to better ensure consistency from individuals.

I appreciate that won't be a goer !!

Correct, whole thing is a joke.

Have said it elsewhere, but club needs to bring it to a head and sort it out this season. No way can we risk next season sabotaged by this shower of shite.

I would have club formally submit incidents to CO system. Including Scott Browns stamp at Dundee. That way we are in no doubt what the panel are looking at and what decision they reach.

KILLIE CLAIM

Rangers star Morelos alleged to have deliberately stamped on Broadfoot before half-time spat

The pair are sweating over SFA bans and compliance officer Clare Whyte will decide this afternoon whether they will be cited

RANGERS striker Alfredo Morelos is alleged to have deliberately stamped on Kirk Broadfoot moments before Saturday's half-time rammy.

The Gers hitman and Kilmarnock defender clashed as they left the field at the break during the 1-1 draw at Ibrox.

TV replays appear to show Broadfoot raking his studs down the back of Morelos' ankle before he reacts.

But the incident has taken a fresh twist after it was claimed Morelos studded Broadfoot off the ball only seconds before.

Ref Greg Aitken missed the incident but SFA compliance officer Clare Whyte will decide this afternoon whether the pair will be handed notices of complaint.

A Kilmarnock source told the Daily Express: "Morelos stamped on Kirk's foot just before the half-time whistle. A few of the players saw it.

"Kirk went after Morelos and that was when the referee blew his whistle.

"Kirk had words but Morelos just ignored him and headed for the tunnel, and that was where a number of players got involved because we had seen what had happened to Kirk.

"Kirk was furious when he came in at half-time and then we saw his foot and it was badly bruised from where he had been caught."

A ban would see Morelos miss the March 31 Old Firm clash at Celtic Park - Rangers' next game.

Boss Steven Gerrard said: "I want him to improve his disciplinary record. He knows that.

"But if other players, other teams, are constantly trying to wind him up and he's getting zero protection, I can't do anything about it."

But Killie gaffer Steve Clarke said: "There was an incident. I've seen it back on video and there was definitely something that happened."

Morelos has picked up 17 yellow cards and four red one later rescinded this season.

Again the anti-Morelos lobby strides into action. Well timed for our Septic supporting Compliance officer to get him out of the Septic game. She will be on the phone to Liam Sean and Patrick as I type.
