Green Brigade's 'unacceptable sectarian abuse'

Recommended Posts

Rangers are set to offer greater protection to their female players after they were targeted for abuse by the Green Brigade.

The Ibrox club are ready to bolster security around their women’s squad for games at Celtic after deeming fan behaviour at Sunday’s Old Firm match as unacceptable.

Rangers claim their players were subjected to sectarian and misogynistic insults throughout the game at East Kilbride, which Celtic won 3-1.

The Green Brigade , the controversial Parkhead fan group, attended the game and Rangers claim their players were left intimidated by their behaviour.

A Rangers official even spoke to the referee at half-time to formally catalogue their concerns to the officials at K-Park, the home of the Hoops women’s team.

A Rangers spokesperson said: “Our women were subjected to misogynistic and sectarian abuse, which is totally unacceptable.

“Perhaps security measures need to be introduced for Rangers women when they have a match away from home against Celtic.”

The sides are next scheduled to meet in the league at the Hummel Centre in October, but Rangers will take steps to ensure spectators are strictly vetted.

Celtic have been approached for comment.

Anybody go to this match?? Sickening abuse (& hypocrisy) is the trademark of the GB, yet they continue to be pandered to by the media. Protest about supporting refugees & opposing deportations on the Saturday, sectarian mysoginistic abuse of a women’s team on the Sunday..

Men players have been verbally abused for over 100 years.  If women want equality, they should be able to handle it too.

The GB are just daft wee boys, with nationality derangement syndrome.

Nothing to do with this but my good friend and neighbour is a keen Celtic man and he was telling me that the club allow this mob to store their horrid banners within the stadium I remember a few years ago at one of our home games  turning away lads at the Broomloan stand for  attempting to get in with a quite innocent little banner .

That isn’t really the world we live in these days though. These wee lassies probably get paid peanuts, & call me old fashioned but abusing women is not the same as verbally abusing adult men.

This needs to be called out though. This group are dangerous extremists, yet seem to be held in high esteem by the SNP establishment. If polls are to be believed & independence happens, then the likes of GB chief Jeanette Findlay could actually be influencing govt policy soon. It happens in NI, don’t think it couldn’t happen here!

BBC Scotland's website carried a report on this womens old firm match on Sunday evening. They informed us that the Celtic Coach, Eddie Wolecki Black asked the Green Brigade to attend the East Kilbride ground. BBC Scotland further informed, "they brought considerable colour and noise" to the match.

The sectarian and misogynistic abuse involving the Green Brigade is being prominently reported in the Daily Record, the Scottish Sun, the Herald, and Evening Times. BBC Scotland are so far failing to mention the story. Still, that's consistent because they failed to carry any mention of the Green Brigade's, 'Fe-nian Army' banner on Sunday.
