Really? Tav scored 2 in the League Cup Final, Shankland scored 1. We got to the final where Tav scored the winning goal. They were hugely important goals. 

 

Tav also scored in every round in our run to the EL Cup Final,  again  highly important goals for the team / club.

This may sound naive, but we have an adept penalty-taker, as it stands, in Tavenier, so do we, then, need another?

But we are not discussing that scenario. In that case you are correct, but whilst considering Shankland, Silva (and Tav) it's not applicable

Should goals be expressed as a ratio of XG? Ie 10 goals for us is easier than the same fir Hertz?

But is it? Do Hearts face teams who play negative football with 10 men behind the ball for 90mins? 

 

It could be argued that scoring goals for Hearts is easier than scoring goals for Rangers.

Shankland; he is the spot-kicker for the Hertz, and it is suggested that we pay 4M GBP, or more, to secure his services. 

He took a penalty last night, and missed. 

 

(I watched that game v Hibs, and it was dross, the ball squealing for help for most of it. Shankland, himself, played like a carthorse stuck in a drain, although at the death, he took a nice goal. Despite that, he is no Jelavic.)
