A bit like wearing Gola or something. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gola_(brand) In the early 2000s, Gola sportswear was re-launched in the UK as a 'retro' sports fashion brand, selling to the same people, now grown up, who fondly remembered the brand from their childhood – but at premium prices.

Have genuinely not seen anyone waring Gola past 1994. Not sure anyone fondly remembers being bullied for wearing Gola. That's brilliant. Just googled it - Anyone paying 80 for Gola deserves to pay £80 for Gola. Also looks to be owned by the Jacobson group which is Ashley and SD. Same applies to Umbro tbh

Iconix acquired Umbro from Nike in 2012 for $225m. The US company also owns brands such as Ecko and Lee Cooper Jeans. Sports Direct, which recently warned its annual profits will be up to £40m lower than expected due to fierce high street competition and bad weather, said it has also taken a 2.34 per cent stake in US-based retailer Dick’s Sporting Goods. In 2012, Dick’s injected £20m into troubled UK sports retailer JJB. Sports Direct said: The main rationale for these stakes is to allow Sports Direct to hopefully build a relationship and develop commercial partnerships with the relevant parties. They also help the Company to build relationships with key suppliers and brands. I believe Castore have acquired 'distribution rights' for Umbro?

Is that still the case? It references 2016, but I don't see any mention of it in the SD/Frasers 2024 accounts.

I've done further investigation. In 2020 their holding in Iconix fell from 6.4% to 4.8%. They still have under 5% in their 2024, if they retain any holding. It's not material for them to disclose in their accounts. I doubt SD have much of any influence over Iconix.
BlackSocksRedTops 3,951
I quite like it tbh. It's unfussy (with thankfully very little red) and is something different compared to the last 3 Castore strips. I genuinely could not describe the difference between this seasons strip and last seasons if I didn't have an image in front of me. Even then I would struggle.
