It seems this club world cup may be part of a dry run for the World Cup next summer to test the waters for a tournament in the US. UK free-to-air (FTA) network Channel 5 will broadcast the Fifa Club World Cup this summer after agreeing a sublicensing deal with global rights holder DAZN. Paramount-owned Channel 5 will show 23 of the 63 matches from the tournament, with its slate consisting of 15 group games, four last-16 ties, two quarter-finals, one semi-final and the final. Channel 5 will take DAZN’s coverage and promote DAZN’s brand rather than use its own staff for the competition, which is being held in the US and takes place from 14th June to 13th July.
