Lets not forget that during Walters first reign he had an annoying habit of playing youngsters in the CL and Europe (during the 3 foriegners rule) but then dropping them for domestic games.

Players like Stephen Pressley, Neil Murray, Gary McSwegen and to a lesser extent Sandy Robertson et al were all given a chance in Europe, but furstratingly were dropped for domestic games.

I think the fact that none of them (bar Pressley to some extent) made it to any level justifies Walter's decisions, and shows he played them in Europe only due to necessity because of the 3FR.

There may be the argument that they didn't become great players because they didn't get enough game time, but I find it hard to believe you can "ruin" a player by not playing him ofen in a top team when young.

Walter did have a hand in the development of Ferguson and Gatusso and look how they turned out... I'm not saying Walter's any good at this but he obviously didn't ruin two of the best teenagers to come out of Ibrox in recent history.
