  1. Past hour
  2. This is actually fundamentally wrong, and not indicative of the way Rangers are planning to operate. Russell Martin is a head coach, being dictated to by Thelwell on the style the club wants to implement and backed up by Purdy in recruiting players to fit that system and trading model. The SD has already expressed we want a mix of young players ready to be sold, with experienced heads in there that can guide to hopefully immediate returns on success, and molding those young players into sellable assets. Welcome to Modern Football.
  3. Players that RM knows? So not players identified by our new structure? Confused.com
  4. So, mentioning those managers, maybe it's down to managers / coaches / boards that we have been unsuccessful since our return to top flight and not Tav?
  5. I mentioned Van Dijk again as it appears some fans think we will have to sign "superstars" and if we don't, we're signing "pish". We aren't in a position, even after the takeover to be spending big in the transfer market. We will be signing experienced players the RM knows and thinks will fit his system, then we'll gamble of young players hoping they will develop and be sold on - its how a transfer model has to work. If you can't get your head around that, you are going to be stressed out every transfer window for a while.
  6. Mate, I'm no old enough. My time was Graeme Souness. And from what I've seen from GS to Walter Smith, Dick Advocaat, Alex McLeish, PLG, Walter again, McCoist etc. Tavernier is the worst Rangers captain I've come across that is just utterly connected to failure. The recent years after Steven Gerrard (after getting ourselves established and winning the top league again) have been catastrophic, absolute failure.
  7. 2nd time you've brought van dijk into the conversation, who cares about him? At least reading between the lines, we agree it's best Propper is gone. See, we can agree on some things P.s a long transfers window? 🤣🤣🤣, brain flash: we're in for a long season
  8. That's 1 aspect of his play (and we'll agree to disagree). He isn't the fastest, certainly isn't the slowest. He has other characteristics to his game, all mentioned by @Rousseau and he still plays at a decent level. If you can't see or accept that even with his lack of pace, he'd be an upgrade on what we have, you are in for a very long transfer window. Did you think we'd be able to jump directly from Propper to Van Dijk? No, we'll have to improve on what we have, then keep improving.
  9. We live in a world of the Internet. Just go watch some videos of Coady if you don't want to accept he can't run
  10. Sorry, I will rephrase. They were pish in Scotland
  11. There are competitive failures (their niar) and there are catastrophic failures (recent times)
  12. You the one making a thing of the age here, i was ranting about the age one 1 potential target . My original post was they all came from England with high wages, and good references and turned out pish. The post is above. Feel free to read it again
  13. I know I am, but we're talking about Coady.
  14. You're all over the place, are we judging players in this instance on age, if their legs are gone or just labeling everything related to Rangers as pish? Silva proved last season, if played in the correct system, he is a very effective player.
  15. CammyF, he's slower than a week in jail.
  16. Wouldn't say he's "overly slow". His passing, reading of the game amd physicality would suggest he's upgrade to what we currently have. That's all we can hope for; that any new signings are better than the players we currently have.
  17. They were really special, they were young, and still turned out pish
  18. What age were Cantwell and say Silva when we signed them?
  19. I think Coady could be an interesting signing playing in the centre of a back-three, which RM plays often: experienced, physical, and can pass (started as a midfielder at Liverpool). He's definitely slow, though.
  20. Aribo and Bassey, were much much younger. I will give you defoe, kudos 1 from about 10 of the older ones
  21. Well, that's how RM plays - watch some of the informative videos posted here - 2 CBs, holding midfeld player (like Lundstram covering) and wide attacking fullbacks. So should make for a great signing then Sherlock?
  22. Why not mention, Aribo, Bassey, DeFoe et al who were all successes? And you conveniently sidestepped telling us how you've came to the conclusion that Coady's legs have gone?
  23. I just did give you my thoughts. He can't run , his legs gone long ago, and he will only be useful in a 3 men at back situation
  24. So now he's a symbol of a failed era, not the cause? Was John Greig a symbol of a failed era? Good job we never got shot of JG eh.....
  25. Cantwell, Dowell, Barton, Lawrence, Silva,Ben fastasfuck Davies, That's as many as I ran recently remember, that came from England with their shiny high wages and glowing references, all to be pish. I don't expect anything more with the recent bunch of old men and semi injured players in our English radar. Anyone got our sporting directors list if successes from Everton?
  26. No, you mentioned age and walking football, I gave a comparison of age - lets use Davie Weir (again) as a compassion- it appears you are negative reaction no matter what is posted. As for his legs have gone - have you watched much of Coady (if so, give us your thoughts).
