  1. You must be easier pleased than me.:)

In truth an 8 was probably correct because he did misplace a couple of passes and should have done better with his chances. BUT he was so far ahead of anything else on the park that he deserves a 9 to recognise that fact.

  2. This really looks like an immense task.

As it stands circa 20 folk's ratings will need to be entered on to a spreadsheet just to get the average rating for each player for this one match; then auto copied on to another sheet for the running averages.

Lot of work when as I say barring injury the race is almost certainly for second place.

Might be worth selecting a panel of ratings judges say 6 including 4/5 who go to the games and 1/2 who view on TV to keep this manageable. The panel could be changed on a monthly basis. I doubt that having 6 judges will produce a much different result from having all comers and it would make collating the results much simpler.

One way to select the panel would be the top 6 in the Prediction League at the end of one month are the ratings panel for the next month. Or it could just be completely random.

  3. While Chairman and manager will never say something like that, this will be the stark reality, unless we carry some luck with both performances and draws. 3rd and 4th rounds will see medium to high quality sides and while not wanting to sound all too negative, the Europa League is a bonus this season and we should treat it us such.

I think we will have considerable difficulty getting beyond Q2 never mind Q3 & Q4.

  4. They'e big but not HUGE, probably D or DD at the very most; she'll kill him, he's only a little boy, expect him to be posted absent from training on a regular basis.

Looks like she needs a real, mature, experienced man. :D

I think she has very attractive features.

  6.

Hopefully this will prove reasonably popular and may even help debate on performances - I am hoping we will be able to invite the POTY to a Gersnet event and make the presentation - we can but try right ?

If the event is in Bermuda and you're paying the first class air fare for me and the winner I'll guarantee attendance (of me but not necessarily the winner).

  7. Kudos to Craig for taking this on, it's going to be a mammoth task if more than a handful of folk post ratings.

On the averages, there will need to be a minimum number of appearances (as in cricket etc), otherwise if a player plays one game and gets a 10, he will win, that's an extreme example, but you get the point.

  8. Seems a few Gersnetters are heading over for the game and might be possible to arrange an unofficial Gersnet European Convention

So I expect to be in the city by around 3.00pm looking for wherever Rangers are issuing the tickets and would be glad to meet up before or after the match. I am not coming back till Thursday so hope to take in the Differdange game on Wednesday night.

Incidentally, contrary to earlier advices, Rangers have re-opened the TC till Monday and have tickets for independent travellers till Friday night (must be TC member).

  9. Tonight was all about Kranjcar, he ran the game for 60 minutes and was taken off too early IMO. He has the close control of the real Hemdani and the vision and range of pass of Ronald de Boer. Sadly we don't have a Michael Mols, although Miller does his best and once again came up trumps.

If one or two of the others could get on his wavelength we'd be quite a team; Pena perhaps?

I was impressed by Cardoso, always looked comfortable (as did Bates), though there will be much sterner tests to come, and always looked to find a pass to a Rangers player out of defence. Saw nothing to tell me why Dalcio is an improvement on Mckay and even less from Waghorn. Can only assume no one in England wants him.

Holt works very very hard and did not look out of place; Jack goes about his business effectively but often unnoticed.

This was little more than a training match; Progres offered nothing more than two disciplined lines of four and an inspired goalkeeper. I'm confident we'll win at least 2-0 in Luxembourg. I'm somewhat less confident about overcoming AEL LImassol's team of Brazilians, Portuguese and Spaniards, 4-0 winners tonight in what appeared to be an empty stadium in Gibraltar.

  10. I was in Villarreal and FARE targeted our club and supporters. Admittedly, some of our support are desperate to provide FARE with all the evidence required. In Villarreal the problems were organisational, improper stewarding and almost no policing outside the ground, where a myriad of tight streets converged. Inside, all parts of the ground were peppered with groups of Bears. Generally, it was akin to attending Rugby Park.

The Yellow Submarine(Villarreal's supporters grouping) had a big friendship thing going with the Yahoos at the time, they had pumped MON's side a couple of seasons previously. A number of reciprocal articles had been published in each club's respective publications, reciprocal visits were organised. We found out FARE were sending an observer because the usual Yahoo suspects had painted them a picture of armaggedon. Rangers supporters were informed NOT to attempt to find the identity of the wholly neutral observer, we were to accept, "he is a sound guy".

The Observer's report was damning, he appeared to witness several incidents at the same time inside and outside the ground. The club was fined, we won on appeal, then lost as UEFA appealed. Spiers was crushed on BBC Scotland when the first appeal announcement was made. He knew the neutral observer, "he was a sound guy". It took a decade, but we eventually found out the neutral observer was BBC Alba commentator, Alex O'Henley.

At the time, Barra born and bred O'Henley was the Football Writer for the West Highland Free Press. Yep, that WHFP owned by Brian Wilson MP. Yep, that Brian Wilson MP who was/is a Director of ra Sellik.

I urge my fellow Bears to support the club and maintain their discipline; however, we and the club must convince UEFA that FARE is not neutral. Ra Sellik have received a dozen straight fines from UEFA, what have FARE said?

Everything you say here is correct, especially the frighteningly terrible chaos OUTSIDE the ground. One Rangers fans went down with a heart attack and two ladies I know never went back to another European game. Twenty minutes to kick off I was outside when the gates were locked but fortunately was able to contact Jim Hannah who came to the rescue with the British Vice Consul. That said a lot of the problems were caused by overcrowding due to forged tickets.

The Spanish police don't need any excuse and there were many stories of unprovoked assault but here again some fans just can't help themselves. A fan took ill inside the stadium during the game and Rangers supporters unaccountably prevented the first aid staff getting through, leading to police intervention and a near riot.

  11. I would think fan behaviour was more the work for the Head of Security.

Yes, it is, on the ground and they do a great job; but in terms of a letter from the Club I would think that if it came from the CEO or perhaps better still the Chairman, it would carry a lot more weight.

Thinking back to Villarreal which has been mentioned; the pleas from Lawrence McIntryre for fans without tickets not to travel etc (backed up by a certain Gersnetter on the radio!) went unheeded.

  12. With so many ST holders now a written letter from Rangers FC stating this would be more effective!.

Normally you get a card to that effect with your away European ticket; but I agree a letter from the CEO (would that be his job, Craig?) or Chairman MIGHT be more effective.

I have a real fear that bad behaviour in Luxembourg might lead to a ban from the match in Cyprus (or Gib!).

  13. It is a a complete fallacy that "the FARE organisation (were) responsible for a supporter ban in 2011".

The supporters who sang the banned songs were responsible for the situation that led to the ban.

    The statement is weak.

Those "who might seek to generate negative headlines" are misguided supporters who think they can sing what they like regardless of the consequences; not those who might report such conduct whatever their motivation for so doing.

EDIT: I have emailed Club 1872 as above with the added comment that "Club 1872 should make it 100% clear that singing banned songs can have only one outcome: a further ban from Europe which would be tragic after 6 long years in the wilderness."

  14. The yahoos have been censured 30 odd times. We can do what we want uefa are toothless.

I think it's 11 or 12 but the point is well made.

However, UEFA are far from toothless, they can do just about anything they please, including barring both Clubs from selling us tickets as per Malmo after Eindhoven (though Malmo sold me a ticket online despite registering my Glasgow address, no questions asked). It's also worth remembering that further punishment was only suspended, though I would think that the suspension period has passed.

It doesn't really matter who reports us or what their motivation might be; if fans misbehave by singing songs that we all know are banned by UEFA, then we run the risk of similar punishments in future.

I'm sure most will concede that away from Ibrox the incidence of FTP/TBB etc has been increasing again and I fear for the effect of sun and drink in Luxembourg and Cyprus (if we get there). How ironic would be if after waiting 6 years, fans behaviour in Lux or Cyprus was such that we were banned from a subsequent match.

Let's hope all fans enjoy the forthcoming trip(s) and remember they are Ambassadors of the Club.
