It makes economic sense to start with those whose contracts are coming to an end, then those will little or no sell on value not U21's on 5 year contracts and a sale on value.

If you're happy that we're left with a bunch of 17 year olds in order that Craig Whyte picks up something for his 85% (total cost £1) then good for you. McGregor, Davis, Wylde are not deadwood that needs removed they're valuable assets being given away for free.

If you kept McGregor and Davis till the end of the season the transfer fees would far outweigh the prospective savings, it's voodoo economics to release them.
