Miko was a very good player and at a time when we had the 3 foreigner rule got into the side no end. Him and Huistra were very good but Laudrup arrived and blew them out the water and took our level of expectation higher.

Reminds me of the Lovenkrands cup final. I had had a bit of a late night and woke up at 2-2.

Scotland losing against Slovenia would be for the greater good...

What an cheap animal, I hope he gets pulled up for that. -

Chris Martin booed coming on then gets the winner. -
I think Big Duncan Ferguson would have eaten Vinnie Jones. Roy Keane didnt back down from much but he did from Ferguson.

I mean Big Dunc...Burglar beater doesnt get any harder than that. Roy Keane wouldnt even go near him. Big Dunc all day long

Why Rangers should close the gap without spending heavily
Gribz replied to Rousseau's topic in Rangers Chat
Thats all I can agree with you. Rangers 80s awful. Celtic 90s awful. 2000s even. 2010s Rangers awful. Who is to say in 10 years it wont be Celtics turn again to be in the dire. However where I disagree with you is the comeback approach we need to take. We cant automatically become No.1 overnight again. With the money Sky pump into England even the best Rangers sides would struggle to compete. Rome wasnt built in a day as they say so we have to take one step at a time. I go back to not getting promotion under McCoist in the Championship - a disaster but a blessing - we weren't ready. To give Warburton credit he came in and sorted out the footballing side and this is our first season back. This side has never played top flight football before so it will take a year to steady. Next year is when we can add judgments like yours. -
Aside from Pete's thread which I mentioned in - who would the hardest player be? Terry Hurlock was scary and an animal but Duncan Ferguson for me.
-
Yes thought about him when I mentioned Mendieta. He was sublime one night.
-
Another good question would be who is hardest player to play at Ibrox. Terry Hurlock was an animal But Big Duncan Ferguson wins that easily Battered burglars - there is no competition.
-
Again - A generation thing which will have various great answers. Mendieta for Valencia was terrific on the night. 99-2000 was it? Lothar Matthaus for Bayern but he didnt play well. Giggs for Man Utd. As Gunslinger said - Buffon - best goalkeeper of all time for me. The list is massive when you say who is the best who has played there. But it should be given to someone in a Gers Jersey.
-
Sebo.... Brian Laudrup for me. 4 years of absolute class.
-
Its a good generation debate with Baxter and Cooper. For me Laudrup was the best. We had good wingers in Walters, Huistra and Mikhailichenko then Laudrup came and was on a different level. Could play left and right and should have been kept to play centre when Advocaat came.

Why Rangers should close the gap without spending heavily
Gribz replied to Rousseau's topic in Rangers Chat
We are a newly promoted team who have obviously had off the park issues. 8 points behind Aberdeen only hit during a barring run of 4 bad games which saw the end for Warburton. I dont think we are 8 point worse than Aberdeen level wise - they have hit form. To qualify for Europe in our first top flight campaign in 5 years is an achievement when changing manager. People need to reflect back to 2, 3, 4 years ago when we are away to East Fife and Cowdenbeath. Lets steady the ship first. Aberdeen have a habit of finishing second at the moment, thats their goal by beating the rest of the league - we need to get back to doing that. Inverness and Dundee away have made us slip up but 8 points is only 3 games and we have Aberdeen twice. -

Have to agree. I dont like having a go at individuals (unless it was Boyd in past years ) but the games ive seen Garner he doesnt look like a goalscorer at all. He plays with his back to goal which means he always going to need link up play unless all of a sudden he gets Michael Mols ability and can turn a man as if he isnt there. I watched the 1987 League cup final after the Cooper thread and Super Ally played with his back to goal in winning the free kick for Coopers hit, and he laid it off for Durrants second - but it shows Ally in his younger days was a class act. Garner just doesnt cut the mustard for me. -
DK was good on Talksport - simplified things very well. The Europa League and Merchandise agreement are obviously the 2 key issues and aims. Qualify for one and sort out the other puts the club on the next level and next stage to progressing as the No.1 club again. We have to remember we are only 7 months back into the top flight and a return to the top is going to take time after the shambolic incompetent destructive mess that this board had to pick up on.

Alex Rae convinced Pedro Caixinha can bring glory days back to Ibrox
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
But so did MW and you could tell he wanted out this season as it was too tough for hi. But he wasnt ever going to get a job in the Premier straight away. For Pedro - what will success be though? A title challenge? Some would see that he makes Rangers progress. Like you say - no issue with it long term if it means he has 55 to his name and we hear the Cl theme at Ibrox again. -

Nothing against Rae but I dont fancy him getting this job. There is something refreshing about Lovenkrands - Like the new approach continuing. -
Yeah broken leg. It was strange the TV didnt show any replays during the live match. Then we saw him receiving gas / oxygen and then while he was being carried off he looked ok and his head was up - must have been in shock and out of it.
-
Waghorn is 20 goals a season. McKay and Hyndman would be double figures and its up to the other players and Pedro to get goal scoring midfielders. Miller, Garner and Dodoo off the bench would obviously contribute. Your going to get about 7 from Hill alone and Tav is capable of 5 from set pieces.
-
To get Niko back would fit in superbly. As Craig says he will need a full pre season or risk the chance of looking like he is running with sand in his boots. This would be a pretty good side before any of Pedros signings. Foderingham Tavernier Hill Wilson Wallace Rossiter Windass Kranjcar Hyndman McKay Waghorn

Ireland v Wales, utter garbage game. If only I could have had a bet on 0-0
-
Id take the real Ronaldo right now. But there seems to be good links about this appointment and we could unearth a few jems, and if it means selling them on for big profit then so be it.
-
No didnt hear that one, oh well maybe take back the comment although he might have been tongue in cheek whereas Walker and Sutton are on a bandwagon weekly.
-
This has to be Strachans last chance. Anything other than 3 points should mean he moves aside and lets someone else come in and take over the rest of the campaign to get his ideas across for the following campaign. If we can only draw with Lithuania and Canada then Slovenia must be favourites. They arent a bad side. Population of 2 million and only been a national team on their own for less than 2 decades yet will out play Scotland. Rep Ireland v Wales tonight is a big game but as both cant lose I hope its 0-0. No other match ups of interest, its pretty much a round of big boys v minnows. You know international football has slipped when France and Holland / Italy and Spain / England and Scotland / Rep Ireland and Wales were all drawn in the same groups but it isnt appealing. Bring it back to midweek Wed night fixtures rather than split over 3 days with silly kick off times. Im not for seedings in club football but for qualifiying groups the likes of San Marino and Andorra should have to play pre-qualifiers like the Europa. I think I will go on a 3 day bender so its over and we get back to talking real football :drink:
