  1. The Times saying have offered a one year contract to Philippe Senderos (formerly of Arsenal and Aston Villa) - currently out of contract after six months at Grasshoppers.

A defender with a decent career but has struggled in recent years. Hmmm...

A useless defender IMO Frankie, must be better out there surely!!

  2. I think it's a fairly open tournament this year, with no overwhelming favourites. France, England, Germany (despite losing a core of experienced players that won the WC), Spain, Belgium and even Italy could all go far; you can't rule out Portugal also.

I like the look of Croatia as an underdog/dark-horse; with Rakitic, Kovacic and Modric, they have an outstanding midfield.

I'll be supporting all the home nations, and I especially hope England do well as they have a young, talented squad. I have never really signed-up to the 'anyone but England' tripe. It's a sad indictment of our society that we'd want a team not to win it.

I would love to see England and the other home nations do well but for me it's the usual over the top media that do my head in (for England anyway). This is seemingly the best squad since 1966 from what I've been reading, I mean come on they've had much better squads than this one. I do sincerely hope they do well but I just can't see them going all the way and other teams have a better all round squad with better players IMO.

  3. I like an outsider so I'll be going for Italy or Belgium. It is up for grabs as there is no real favourite IMO, I would back Spain out of the top 3 in the betting.

England should get to the quarters fine but I just can't see them going all the way. They have certain players who are on form but they always have that yet don't click as a team, I certainly won't be believing all the hype.

Hopefully Italy or Croatia get to the quarters or semis as I'll be on holiday there at that time :D

I might also put a bet on Spain's Morata for top goal scorer!

  4. I've been listening to other football fans at my work the past couple of days and every word is either Rangers fans were also at fault at the game, or more so :eek2: or everything is now a joke to them and they don't care as they've won the cup and we've no!

Apart from Rangers people and a few decent fans from other clubs all I can see is pure hatred towards us. Some were even saying we should get banned from the SC and not them, you couldn't make it up!!

  5. I used to live there and my Grandpa would always be asking me, "How's things in Auld Reekie?" He's passed away but would be about 105 now, so we're talking much older generation. My mum is in her late 70's and while not using it much, would certainly know exactly what you were talking about and wouldn't be surprised by its use.

I think we all know what it means but like I said never heard anyone call it that that i can remember,

Living in Tranent growing up, Edinburgh was 'up the toon' to us, now living further west it's called much worse :)

  6. Older generations definitely do.

My mum (in her 70s) lived there for a while and she's never said it, I also worked in Edinburgh for nearly 30 years and I honestly can't recall anyone saying it, (apart from a line in a daft herts song) :smokin:

  7. Last season Barton was voted as best player in a team that earned direct promotion to the EPL, so regardless of character the player comes with recent pedigree.

In Frank McParland we have a man who knows Barton and probably helped bring him in at Burnley and watched the player be successful.

I just don't think he's worth all the off the field hassle that comes with him and what wages would he be on, £20K+ I'd say.

Decent player but I hope we don't get him!

  8. I don't think it will happen as he would still want big wages. I really don't like Barton and he's past his best as a player IMO but IF he did come I would trust the manager. It wouldl be a bit like Ian Black signing for us, not many fans liked him or thought he was good enough but most did support him, to start with anyway!

  9. What's the problem? We all had an opportunity to sign up, for semi finals and finals, back at the start of the season. How many did?

I'm with Ian on this, so thousands who have been at most games this season for Rangers will miss out, but Hibs fans who might not have been to any games this season or for years can easily get a ticket and some can get 2, not a fair split IMO.

  10. I'm sure I read an article from Brentford fans on MW when he first joined us saying the only system he plays is an attacking one, they said they lost games when they could easily have shut up shop after going in front on get a/the point/s and that I think was their only criticism of him.

Last night we could easily have been 5 in front at half time but we don't have the quality up front, hopefully we do for next season.

We also need our defenders to improve or we need to bring in better quality to stop the stupid mistakes we seem to keep making.

It is frustrating when we are not killing teams off and then sometimes we get punished for it and it will be tougher at a higher level but we are improving all the time, I now know our system under MW won't change and for the first time in years I am really enjoying our style of play but I also know we will get beat from time to time due to our style of play such as we did least night.
