  1. The players he signed were poor (and were coached poorly). He had what the second biggest budget in scottish football. His tactical plan was to wait til the other team (of part time players) tired themselves out and then go for the win. He took home a massive wage and served up very little that was pleasing to the eye. When king and co finally got a hold of Rangers I thought he might of resigned from his contract and moved on, instead he continued to pocket the wage right to the end. Then there was the whole debacle of forgetting to vote because he was on holiday. That’s not great from stuff from a club legend. So when he talks about us being behind celtic, you can see why people get upset!

  2. How true!

I feel myself drifting away from it myself. Shame really, We used have some good discussions but when the whole Ebt thing started and everyone became a tax expert it all became a bit poisonous. Still the off topic forum has its moments. Anyway top post mate. I'll have to try and remember it all when I talk to my Dad (the dreaded Celtic Supporter), hopefully I can bamboozle him with my knowledge (as he gets all his from The Evening Times & Daily Record online).

  3. Lifted from FF:

Press Association Sport understands Ibrox chiefs have already started interviewing candidates for both roles.

And they are planning further meetings with hopeful contenders in London over the next few days as they look to reshape their management structure following Mark Warburton's shock departure.

Under-20s boss Graeme Murty was again in charge at Dens Park on Sunday, but he could do little to halt Gers' faltering run that has now seen them win just one of their last six Ladbrokes Premiership fixtures.

Paul Hartley's Dark Blues were stronger all over the pitch than their visitors from Glasgow.

And they claimed a deserved 2-1 win - their first over the Light Blues on Tayside since 1992 - thanks to first-half strikes from Mark O'Hara and Kevin Holt.

Joe Garner did pull one back after the break but the result now means the Ibrox side trail Aberdeen by six points in the race for second.

With fourth-placed Hearts just five points behind, Gers' plans for a return to European competition could be put in considerable jeopardy if they fail to turn around their worrying form.

And that is likely to spur Dave King's board into action soon rather than later.

Alex McLeish remains the bookmakers' favourite for the top job, although former Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has moved up the reckoning ahead of the likes of Derek McInnes, Tommy Wright and Frank De Boer.

Ross Wilson, Southampton's director of recruitment and scouting, is one of those who has already met with Rangers' managing director Stewart Robertson with a view to taking on the new director of football post, but there are at least another three candidates vying for the role.

However, no appointment for either position is expected this week, meaning Murty is again likely to be in charge when the Light Blues travel north to take on Inverness on Friday night

Do we know who the other three are?

  4. I often wonder what Sutton would do for a living if he didn’t have Rangers to talk about. No doubt he would have a lovely wee pub somewhere, where he could regal folks over their fried egg and chip dinners with stories of how he fell down for a living every Saturday afternoon.

  5. haven't seen warburtons interview, however the line regarding "We’ve got a responsibility to his parent club. We have got to look after their asset" is a shocking thing to say (from a Rangers perspective). Whats the point in having players come in loan if they cannot/or not allowed to play the full 90mins?. We're taking off our most dangerous player on the night and leaving on those who are pish to struggle on? sounds like her had given up the game.

  6. St Johnstone want Rangers forward Michael O’Halloran back but face fight to land him

Other Premiership sides want the 26-year-old forward who is being allowed to go out on loan in the window.

St Johnstone face competition to bring back Michael O’Halloran from Rangers .

The Ibrox giants are willing to let the forward leave in this window despite only having signed him on deadline day last February.O’Halloran has found his first-team opportunities restricted this season and has made only 13 appearances in the league.

Rangers would consider allowing the 26-year-old go out on loan to free up cash to go back into the transfer market.

And O’Halloran’s old club St Johnstone are leading the race to re-sign him. However, Record Sport understands three other Premiership clubs are also keen on bringing in the pacey wideman.

Rangers on Tuesday tied up a loan move for Bournemouth’s Emerson Hyndman and are also expected to seal the deal for Arsenal midfielder Jon Toral today.

But a report claiming Mark Warburton failed in a bid to sign West Ham starlet Domingos Quina on loan appears wide of the mark.

Ibrox sources have told Record Sport Quina was not on a list of targets.

Doesn't seem like he's been given a fair chance to prove himself! He needs a decent run in the team!

  7. It isn't about a moral stance though, if they CAN use the SFA rules (no gambling on games) then it is a legal stance, not a moral one - certainly in terms of employment law.

Are you suggesting that because King had tax issues in SA that as long as he is our Club custodian then we will never be able to take the moral stance on anything ? I ask because Barton's situation is irrelevant to King's, and I'm not sure on what grounds you are linking the two.

I'm suggesting that both of them have had a past, that can be seen as be questionable. However King gets the chance to right those wrongs (with a second stint with us) but Barton doesn't. That's what i find annoying.

PS. I've got nothing against King and i'm glad he is at the club but the handling of this is an utter shambles! all we've done is just given our adversaries more scope to take the piss out of us and sell their newspapers!

  8. The problem people give there is that we didn't sack previous offenders. However, it is an entirely new board and management, who have criticised the previous running of the club, so I can't see a case for inconsistency there. They could also have changed the club rules and/or contract wording since the previous offences.

However, as I said above, his rap sheet is pretty long and so it's not the same.

Its a good point about a different board. However you could argue that with our majority shareholders problems in the past with the south African tax bodies and the millions of pounds, paid in settlements/penalties to them that our moral stance is a bit tenuous?

  9. The whole thing is a disgrace and the fact that Warburton didn't even have the respect to turn up to be part of the discussion is shambolic. How in gods name can you have a disciplinary meeting without hearing what both sides have to say when they are face to face. Whether Barton is right or wrong doesn't change the fact that Rangers are making a mockery of the whole thing. It looks like they want an apology from Barton and he is refusing. If he feels he is right then he has the right to refuse but then the board should have had them both round the table. Maybe the board should just knock both their heads together as it looks like 2 stubborn mules facing up to each other and Rangers football club and it's fans are real injured party.

This is indeed shambolic. Its embarrassing for the fans, the players & the club. The fact our board cant see this is pathetic. it wouldn't surprise me if we offered to release him and he's declined on the grounds of !fighting for his place. and now the board are hoping our beloved SFA (the champions of truth & justice) will find him guilty! Then we can take the moral high ground and fire him. This whole situation stinks!
