[h=3]A JOINT Russian and Ukrainian League could start as early as next year.[/h]The move could have far-reaching consequences for Rangers, whose boss Charles Green is desperate to get the club into a cross-border league. Russian gas giant Gazprom â?? a Champions League sponsor and owner of Zenit St Petersburg â?? is determined to bring the top clubs in Russia and Ukraine together in a new league called the United Championship. And they are confident they can persuade UEFA to give them the go-ahead as early as next autumn. Gazprom Chief Executive Alexei Miller said: â??Of course the approval of UEFA is required. â??We can already say with confidence there will be an interesting discussion. â??This is because of the requirements imposed by UEFAâ??s financial fair play rules. I am sure if the United Championship is created, this requirement will be fully conformed to. â??We think it is realistic to hold the championship from the autumn of 2014.â? Eventually, the league would include teams from all former Soviet countries and have an astonishing prize fund of £800million. As many as four teams could win promotion into the second tier of Scottish football each season under league reconstruction plans. The joint SPL and SFL proposal for a 12-12-18 structure, which splits into mini-divisions after two rounds of games, will also include a play-off system between the second phase “Championship Eight” and the National League, the proposed third tier. The eight bottom clubs in the Championship after 22 matches will go into the Championship Eight, playing each other home and away to complete 36 games across the season. The two teams finishing bottom of the Championship Eight will automatically be relegated to the National League, replaced by the two sides finishing top of the third tier. A play-off system between the two leagues will then come into effect and will include the teams finishing in positions three to six in the National League, as well as the sides ending the season fifth and sixth in the Championship Eight. The end-of-season competition would work in two parts. Firstly, the four clubs in the play-off spots in the National League would play against each other, with third playing sixth and fourth playing fifth. The winners of those two ties would then go on to take on the two clubs from the Championship Eight, with the winners of those final ties taking up a place in the next season’s Championship. Play-offs stage one Game A: National League Third Place v National League Sixth Place Game B: National League Fourth Place v National League Fifth Place Play-offs stage two Game C: Winner of Game A v “Championship Eight” Sixth Place Game D: Winner of Game B v “Championship Eight” Fifth Place Outcome The winners of Game C and D are awarded a place in the Championship (second tier) for the forthcoming season. The winners of Game C and D are awarded a place in the National League (third tier) for the forthcoming season.

seen this on twitter Rangers will this week reveal they've agreed a 2 year youth exchange program with Juve. The plan involves Juve sending players from their.. youth squad to Glasgow on loan & Rangers youngsters being given the chance to train in Turin to aid their development. Juventus will.. have the option to sign up any players who impress. The agreement was reached during Juventus' visit to Murray Park last week. Andrea Agnelli: ""Rangers are the old lady of not just Scottish, but British football. We are honoured to be working with the club..(1) in the aim to improve the young players of both clubs who will hopefully become the next generation of gifted European players..(2) We'll do whatever we can to give our players valuable experience & at the same time lead Rangers back to the main leagues where they belong" Retweeted by Rangers Supporters
