  1. we had a huge squad, over 30 first team players, they underachieved big time. i think ally had a stronger squad than walter, he added more bodies than he lost. i didnt like advocaat, i thought he was a failure and ran at the first sign of the £'s drying up and a real challenge from celtic. i dont think we can compare two seperate seasons points wise, especially so far apart, every year is different, every season has different factors and different teams participating. yes, it was a disaster in my mind, cup failure after cup failure, points dropped all over the place in the league too, it was shocking. well we dont know that about derek as he has not been given a chance at a club who could win trophies or titles. what has butcher done in the media which you dont like? he has the management experience and what we were needing at that time, that is why i suggested him. ironically i did like PLG and supported him over murray, the fans and the auchenhowie rebels.
  2. more often than not mate it is a very fine line i agree.
  3. what praise is he due as a manager though? he had a disastrous first season in charge. as a person and representative of the rangers family i have already said he has been amazing. at the time when walter was stepping down i thought we needed a manager who had experience of being his own man, a manager who knew how to work with a budget and a manager who had experience himself of the transfer market. i really fancied derek mcinnes. i would rather have had terry butcher than ally too, experienced managers who had worked with very tight budgets and who proved they are tactically sound too. malky mckay would have been a cracking shout and a bold move too. stewart mccall has turned out a fantastic coach but when walter stepped down, he was not ready, he needed that motherwell job as part of his learning curve. ally has had none of that, none of the experience needed. when he first took over some of his interviews and snippets from the press were really poor. his desperation to keep whittaker for example, his declaration that the players would be ready for the new season another. saying we would not make signings for the sake of it and then doing just that, couple that with the mistakes he made on the park and the tone for the season was set.
  4. true but it should not be to the detriment of the team or club. alexander is a fine keeper, i dont think he was to blame for the falkirk defeat despite his howler. the outfield players were dreadful and their attitude even worse. did that complacency come from the dressing room/dug out? we will never know.
  5. because i have saw the abuse people who speak their mind and against the grain and popular opinion get online, some must think it is not worth the hassle, i think if it needs said, i will say it. everyone is different though mate. we are all fighting the same war just in different ways.
  6. Sadly they have mate.
  7. most likely but that does not make it right
  8. it was supposed to be a new regime, new ideas, new tactics and a new way of doing things. there is nothing dishounarable about a back up player sitting on the bench that is what they do. we are fans, we all have opinions and thoughts, we are entitled to praise and criticise when we think it merits. deal? we are doing deals with subs now? c'mon zappa, get real!
  9. i wouldnt call that an insult mate
  10. he was clearly being sarcastic!! :-) i thought it was funny!
  11. you mean he was still trying to copy walter and did not have the bottle or brains to change tradition. very weak imo and speaks volumes.
  12. the comments insulting him on twitter are a disgrace and another indicator of the filth which drags our club down now and again.
  13. since going into admin, allys attitude and behaviour have been exemplary. a true gentleman and a real rangers man. who is being insulted?
  14. complete supposition, we don't know that for a fact, anyway, who dropped our number one and picked alexander?
  15. i have replied within your quotes mate, no idea how to seperate it like you did earlier :-)
  16. like our european qualifiers last season? we fell flat on our faces several times last season and too many people were scared to speak up
  17. i dont rate him, i think he is a very poor football manager, is that allowed? why pull together and give 100% support to someone you dont believe in? what is the point in that?
  18. exactly. too many people are scared to criticise because he has been such a good pr machine for the club
  19. whos fault was it we had a lack of options up front? the managers. he chose to sign players for other positions and not use them. he got found out by managers of clubs with a fraction of the budget he had to work with, malmo, maribo, falkirk, kilmarnock, st johnstone, dundee utd etc etc etc etc etc the distraction did not come until after the damage was done, long after it in fact. we do have a team, we dont have a squad, but we have enough to pick a team, they are in pre season training and have been for over a week now. no one knows what funds we will have so assumptions on how big or small it will be are just stupid. what players to division 3, that will depend how much we are willing to pay. it wont matter though, we wont be playing in division 3! the standard is beyond pathetic down there, these guys cannot do the most simple of tasks with a ball. it is dreadful. even ally will get us successive promotions which will paper over the cracks. it will be a walk in the park, no problem whatsoever in fact.
  20. quite a few and also several around the 15 - 20 mark. there wage bill looks unmanageable but they pull it off and their debt is rising with every non participation in the Champions League. they will qualify this year though
  21. that is just nonsense mate. what about other clubs who used tax avoidance schemes? what about other clubs who used ebt's?
  22. no its not, we are a premier league club, we are the biggest club in the country and no matter what league we play in that will never change. ally was found out big time last season, maybe in the third he will feel more at ease
  23. why would they be stripped? show me a team on this planet who wins things without spending money they dont have...........having debt is what makes the football world go round
