Really pleased we got through but we turn attack into defence too often with bad/careless passes and lack of control. We need more quality but that costs money or we develop our own.

I agree with Tannochsidebear's view on Candeias. My only worry in not playing him is that he does help out Tavernier. Hopefully somebody else can perform that role as I don't think Candeias is good enough at this level.

I'd rather have the boy with the bandaged heid from Thursday night than Lafferty. Probably a lot cheaper ?.

Surely we've got to look for better than Lafferty. Didn't Hearts get him for bugger all?

Happy with the result. We defended very deep in the second half, created very little, gave them the odd sniff. Would like to see us hold the ball and create but maybe asking too much at this stage. As we all know Tavernier has his good points but seemed lost at times against the bandaged heid boy on the left and lost the ball in the air a few times,

Would it be possible to put the kick-off time in the match thread title? I have just found out the kick-off is at 4.55pm. I had assumed a time of 7.45pm ?.

If Santos are paying his full wage then it's a good deal.

Maybe some of the older bears can confirm for me, but I was always under the impression that Haffey was a poor keeper.

It was "Haffey past 9" ?. That was my two favourite players of all time playing there - Baxter and Henderson. I must admit that old newsreel doesn't show them in a good light but if you saw them in the flesh they were magic!

We got a good result without playing that well. Hopefully we are better organised defensively than last season.

I can remember seeing one possession statistic during the game which gave us 75% to their 25%. That's pretty dominant.

Possession doesn't win the game. Creating  and taking chances does and we did well to score two.

I don't think we were that dominant and should be happy that that we are two goals up.

We don't really know that yet they played a very defensive formation with a lone striker which meant they only had a couple of chances. I'm more concerned at the ease that they passed the ball through us when they did have it. Granted they'll be more open on Tuesday as they need to score to win which might allow our attack some room to work in. But if they can play like that and be on the attack also it'll be a real test in the heat.

If we  can defend which is a big IF then we can pick them off.
