Andy Webster......
I'm with you there. Would be great to stick one over Hearts early in the season by getting one of their best players on the cheap... Oh, and he's a decent centre half too....

The Evening Times is reporting that we're taking the Slovakian Martin Skrtel from Zenit as part of the deal.....

Excellent work! Well done to all involved with the RST.

Hey, if they can win me over, the RST has bright days ahead indeed
Very pleasing to see this. Will be interesting to see what actions are ongoing at the moment.

If FanFan is sold right now , we are looking awfully weak and struggling at the back.
Svennson , J-Rod, injured Murray , Ponroy (youth) and Boab(gonna be sold).
tis not looking good especially with Svennson's performance today.
Agreed, 3 goals conceded in first 2 games is too many - There's plenty of noises from Le Guen and DM about getting more players in regardless of whether others are moved on first so I would reckon these are defenders + this winger from Man U

Of course I would, everyone is there to support Rangers not Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool etc.
Your supporting your team by buying a ticket and going to the game - is that not enough? Yes wearing your teams top is an additional form of support but it's not the be all and end all.

Who cares? It's a free country and you can wear what you want - within reason.....

From BBC Sport....
Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes were sent off during Manchester United's 3-1 friendly win over FC Porto on Friday. Both had scored before Rooney was shown a red card in the 42nd minute for allegedly elbowing Pepe.
Scholes was dismissed for a second booking on 68 minutes but United added a third through Ole Gunnar Solksjaer before Porto scored a late consolation.
If referee Ruud Bossen reports the incidents, the pair could be banned for the start of the Premiership season.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson felt Rooney did not deserve to be sent off for his challenge, which came as he jumped for a header.
Wayne was surprised - it was unfair because their player made a meal of the situation
Sir Alex Ferguson
"There is an element of Wayne's reputation going before him," Ferguson said.
"I do not know what the referee was thinking because only a minute before that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was elbowed and he didn't even warn the player.
"I do not see the difference between what the Porto player did and what Wayne did apart from one of the players is called Wayne Rooney.
"Wayne was surprised. It was unfair because their player made a meal of the situation but unfortunately that sort of thing is endemic in our game now."
But Ferguson did not defend Scholes, adding: "There is no excuse for Paul. It was a tackle from behind."
Ferguson now faces an anxious wait to see whether Rooney and Scholes will be banned for his side's first Premiership game of the season against Fulham on 20 August.
If Dutch referee Bossen notes the incidents in his report to the Dutch FA, and they pass it on to their English counterparts, the pair will almost certainly be suspended - with Rooney facing a three-game ban.
Rooney was also sent off in his last competitive match, for England in their World Cup quarter-final defeat by Portugal on 1 July.

What can be done to protect Rooney from card-happy referees?
Alex
606: Have your say
He was being watched against Porto by new England coach Steve McClaren who is preparing to announce his squad for his first game in charge, against Greece on 16 August.
Rio Ferdinand was on the United team sheet but landed heavily on his right ankle during the warm-up and was left out as a precaution by Ferguson.
The incidents completely overshadowed new signing Michael Carrick's first game for United but he made an impressive debut.
Carrick's corner was rifled home by Scholes on the edge of the area for United's first goal before Rooney's audacious chip made it 2-0.
Solskjaer slammed home a third when United were down to nine men before Pepe's late reply for Porto.
The game was United's first in a four-team tournament that also features Ajax and Inter Milan.

I'm not buying all this. Let's see how they perform against Hearts before making judgements.

It's more down to the fact that Ricksen's contract has a value to the club as well as the player i.e. we can get some money back if we sell him

The only thing you can say about Fan Fan is that he's someone who was playing for a top French side regularly in the CL, so he can't be that bad?
You would think that but |I reckon it's another one of Mcleish's signings on supposed reputation rather than good scouting.

Given the competition for places, the higher standard of fitness levels and discipline brought to Ibrox by PLG, I see no reason why we cant regain the league and compete to a decent standard in the UEFA cup. The SPL is the priority and I would use the CIS cup to give fringe players a couple of competitive games.

Can't claim it as my own, a guy from our RSC sang it on the way home for Motherwell on Sunday, had the bus in stitches....!!
Cammy F
The best chants are the funny one's. I remember an e-mail of funny chants not too long ago e.g. sung to Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank " Your just a fat Eddie Murphy! " quality.

Loyal Men In BlueA GROUP of Light Blue fans got together last month to record a great new Rangers song, sung to the tune of Clementine, which pays tribute to meLoyal Men In Bluemorable parts of the Club's history and you can learn the new tune here!
The new song pays homage to the legendary Bill Struth, The 1972 Cup Winners Cup victory in Barcelona, the 5-1 win against Celtic at Ibrox, the fantastic achievement in reaching nine League titles in a row, and the 5 stars representing our world record breaking 50 title wins.
It is the first time ever that a Rangers song includes all of these important historical events that are part of the Club's history, and it was also fitting that the song was initiated and was sung by the fans.
Check out the lyrics and listen out for the song at the first SPL home clash against Dundee United on Saturday!

Check out the lyrics to the new song:
CHORUS
We Are Rangers, Super Rangers ..... We are Rangers Thru and Thru
We are Rangers, Super Rangers .... We're the Loyal Men in Blue
In The Morning, at the dawning with my hand upon my chest
By the five stars, Do or die stars, Rangers simply are the best
From The Copland, to the Broomloan you will surely be impressed
It's the team I'd stand and fight for, Rangers simply are the best
We Are Rangers, Super Rangers ..... We are Rangers Thru and Thru
We are Rangers, Super Rangers .... We're the Loyal Men in Blue
When in Scotland, Or In Europe when they put us to the test
We will beat them, we'll defeat them Rangers simply are the best
In the evening, as the sunsets, as I lay my head to rest
It's the one team that I dream of, Rangers simply are the best
We Are Rangers, Super Rangers ..... We are Rangers Thru and Thru
We are Rangers, Super Rangers .... We're the Loyal Men in Blue
Let others come after us, we welcome the chase
Struth's Gallant pioneers, won the cup and title Race
In 72, they conquered Moscow, did the Barcelona Bears
A celebration, a jubilation, when they knew the cup was theirs
We Are Rangers, Super Rangers ..... We are Rangers Thru and Thru
We are Rangers, Super Rangers .... We're the Loyal Men in Blue
In 1988 we, set out on, the glory road
Put 5 goals, past the Celtic, How 2 play, the game we showed
In 1997 Brian Laudrup scored the goal
With a bullet, of header, made it 9 Leagues in a row
We Are Rangers, Super Rangers ..... We are Rangers Thru and Thru
We are Rangers, Super Rangers .... We're the Loyal Men in Blue
We Are Rangers, Super Rangers ..... We are Rangers Thru and Thru
We are Rangers, Super Rangers .... We're the Loyal Men in Blue

I just hope the minority dont ruin things for the majority. Fingers crossed...

I wouldnt have minded either way but am not surprised by PLG's decision. Had Ricksen stayed then it would not have sent out the right message to what is a relatively young squad. Because of the standards of discipline that the manager has dictated that everyone must follow then it's just not possible to accomodate a senior squad player and former captain who cant behave himself and set the required example.

I remember Shota blessed himself at least 3 times on his debut for Rangers. Once when he came on as a sub and once again for each of his 2 goals. Dont remember anyone making a fuss then but agree that it's the kind of double standards, narrow minded, petty nonsense thats likely to continue for a good long while.

He was probably escorted from the stadium in a temper. You would have one too if you were club captain, invinsible and dropped 2 weeks in a row
