OFFICIAL Ibrox pre-season friendlies and key dates
stewarty replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Cost-wise, it wont be cheap but it is likely to be cheaper than flying the squad overseas for an equivalent period. Given where we are, with the takeover only just now completed and not having a manager, it seems like this is probably the best compromise available, other than just staying at home. Given the location, it will be relatively easy to organise closed-door friendlies with English/touring clubs. I also wouldn't be surprised to see at least one away game down south that the fans can travel to around the same time. Also, I've stayed at the St Georges complex - its very nice and I've no doubt a number of fans have already booked to stay at the same time as the club are visiting. -
Jeezo, you’re hard work.

You were talking about expectation to spend money in the context of football shirts.

No-one is expected to buy a football top. Behave.

Poll 2: Electric Boogaloo: Who would you prefer to be the new manager?
stewarty replied to Rousseau's topic in Rangers Chat
Thats fair and if he gets the job then he gets (at least from me) the same backing as any other manager would... until such time as he doesn't deserve that backing. But we all know how fickle supporters are, and I just worry he would be on the back foot from the beginning. -

I've voted for him but would Davide Ancelotti have got the job at Madrid without his old fella? Doubtful. The others: - Martin is tainted by his time as a player. - Gerrard: Not sure going back to old managers is necessarily the best idea. Though he would be my second choice - Rohl/Edwards - dont really know much about them - O'Neil: meh -
Nah, he's strictly a cash business kinda guy.
-
Be a shame(n) if he isn't.

Freedom of expression does not equate to freedom from consequence. Every £ of a fine received, is money that can't be invested in the club. IMO, its only natural that this is the line that many draw. I personally don't get worked up about what other fans say/do, but whataboutery is fierce when it comes to this stuff, and a natural consequence when there appears to be different sets of expectations depending on who you support. Our support are easy to 'manage' as you say, because our response is predictable. Personally I would just resort to taking the utter piss out of them. Imagine a giant tifo of Cerny skooshing their bench/fans... we'd dine out on that for ages!
-
For sure, and the minutes seem to back up the difficulty in trying to oversee tifos at least from a Fan Board perspective.
-
My take is that the club was simply waiting for the next banner that was even a little bit edgy in order to ensure they have approval over future tifos and banners. The minutes seem to back this up.

King making out he's been the power behind the throne hear. Not sure how fair that is, given his previous.

Not sure who it was in the ambulance getting a mounted police escort along edmiston drive to PRW. I'm assuming it was Sterling, which isn't a good sign.

Celtic Boys Club manager 'stuffed banknotes in boy's mouth'
stewarty replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
Point of order: Celtic’s annual wage and salary bill is £65.6m per their last full year accounts. That’s £1.26m per week, or £5.46m per month all in. Not that this diminishes the point the author is making. -

Interesting. It does seem a strange wording to use, deliberately ambiguous. And to announce on 1st April was surely a cynical ploy to underplay this or dampen it to chipwrappers and everyone moves on. Russell Findlay was spot on in his comments. -

Could be read either way - I read it the other way this morning. -
Something to also consider is that many businesses operate on the basis of invoice discounting and this is considered a very normal practice, even among well established and thriving businesses. This is where a business sells its sales invoices (future income) to a lender at a discounted rate, and then lender then advances them the cash immediately to help manage cash flow. The Macquarrie loan arrangement is therefore just a variation on this theme. As was ticketus. There are many clubs in the UK who use the same lender. What we do need to guard against is bottom feeders like Whyte using such instruments to manipulate outcomes that are clearly not in the club's interest. So I don't blame fans for being worried when these arrangements come to light, but on this occasion it looks like normal practice.

Interesting. One thing I'm liking about the football review is that they're not waiting till the end of the process to take action. Its also only been a few weeks since Captain Picard announced that this was one of the findings they were taking forward.

Dessers. His best match for us, I thought. Very unfortunate not to be walking off the pitch with the match ball.

I’m hearing that the Parks are the main dissenters in terms of willingness to sell their shares. As ever, take with a pinch of salt as not hearing first hand.
-
Good point, I assumed he checked, but it was Kieran Maguire from the Price of Football podcast on twitter. He posted the original CH form per above, but then also posted afterwards to confirm the share price was 20p. https://x.com/KieranMaguire/status/1892171050831462820

Apparently they made a mistake on that form, the shares were at 20p each. So 18m shares @ 20p, raising £3.6m. I'm guessing its a conversion of a loan to shares, but I'm sure we'll get more details in due course.

GPL Predictions Bluebear54's GPL 2024/25: Hearts vs Rangers
stewarty replied to Rousseau's topic in Rangers Chat
Hearts 1 - 3 Rangers FGS Dessers -
I thought Raskin hardly put a foot wrong and seemed to relish the chance to show his form against his fellow Belgians, but big Dessers for me led the line very well, his link up play was much improved, some terrific long runs in behind that should have led to more than just one assist... I wasn't totally convinced he was offside for the goal he had ruled out, but I only saw one replay when I got home. Overall for me he led from the front last night and gets my vote.

Yep, its about winning trophies. Simples. I look at some of the discontent over in the east end and to me the main reason it doesn't bubble over is because of their success. It wont be until we properly challenge for the title that the cracks will be more obvious.
