  1. No one has mentioned the legendary Andy Firth.
  2. Ouch, @Sutton_blows_goats. That's the most esoteric burn I've ever read. "It gets amortised"!
  3. Can that not be applied to McGregor, too? it's not close, to be fair: Goram is well out in front of McGregor on this thread.
  4. This has turned out to be an interesting discussion. I felt Goram would be the clear winner - which is the case - but it seems to me that all our contenders are similarly skilled in one area (shot-stopping) and similarly limited in others (passing, commanding the box, etc.); they all won many titles - Goram actually won fewer than you'd expect - and they could all make a worldie. So what is it that makes Goram stand out?
  5. McGregor won more trophies than Goram. Just sayin'...
  6. I wonder if, over time, McGregor will come to shade Goram in these discussions?
  7. Yes, I thought so, but the other positions should generate some debate.
  8. As it's the international break, I thought we could partake in a little exercise doing the rounds on social media. Every day for 11 days (11 days, 11 players) we'll pick the best all-time Rangers player for each position. The most voted/mentioned player gets added to the lineup. Day 1: Goalkeeper. Who is the best all-time Rangers 'keeper? [LCF - Day 10] - [RCF - Day 11] [LW - Day 6] - [LCM - Day 7] - [RCM - Day 8] - [RW - Day 9] [LB - Day 2] - [LCB - Day 3] - [RCB - Day 4] - [RB - Day 5] [GK - Day 1]
  9. What are your thoughts, folks?
  10. I was kidding. I thought Dessers was good today.
  11. Well, of course. And - I won't name names *cough* @CammyF *cough* - I kept getting pelters for mentioning it...
  12. That's because we had Dessers up front...
  13. This illustrates what I kept moaning about with us under Beale: our xG just wasn't high enough - or, the difference between xG and xGA wasn't wide enough; we were riding our luck, hoping our better players carried us over the line.
  14. xG under Michael Beale (SPFL Only): 2.55 (1-3 Aberdeen) 1.00 (1-0 Motherwell) 2.02 (2-0 St. Johnstone) 1.80 (0-1 Celtic) 1.96 (2-0 Ross County) 2.44 (4-0 Livingstone) 1.36 (0-1 Kilmarnock) Total = 13.13 xG 10 Goals, 5 goals conceded (from 7 games) 1.8 xG per game average xG under Philippe Clement (SPFL Only): 2.46 (2-0 Livingstone) 5.40 (5-0 Dundee) 4.03 (2-1 Hearts) 2.65 (4-0 Hibernian) Total = 14.54 xG 13 Goals, 1 Conceded (from 4 games) 3.63 xG per game average

  16. That's fine when we're two up and looking to take the sting out of the game.
  17. McCausland has done more than Sima in this game, which is quite impressive.
  18. Aye, like [Dessers] scores every chance. Jeez, give [Danilo] a chance. He's played well [...] and score[s goals in Europe]. He's getting himself in good positions and his hold up play has been excellent.
  19. I did say 'some'. I praised Dessers' positioning and overall play in a later post. I only see Lawrence coming off in that case, which I wouldn't like; Lawrence has been pretty good.
  20. Yes, I wasn't criticising his overall play - which was pretty good - but his finishing wasn't quite there. He does get into good positions, which is a good skill to have.
  21. Ah - I missed that. Who can I moan at now... ?
