  2. What are your thoughts, folks?
  3. Brentford 4 - 0 Man Utd. 35 mins played.
  4. Some good scores, again. Only one player picked Tillman, which surprised me. Correct Result (1 pt): Everyone who entered. Correct Number of Rangers Goals (1pt): Stewarty, Mal, Franc, Ian and 26th FGS (2 pts): MacK Correct Score (3 pts): Stewarty, Mal, Franc, Ian and 26th. Latest Standings:
  5. Dominating possession, neat and tidy but safe passing, all the territory with St Johnstone parked in their own box. Created... nothing. (St Johnstone missed a sitter.)
  6. Lowry named in the B-team starting XI today. Hopefully he is closer to getting back into first-team plans.
  7. I'm looking forward to seeing Davies. I've not seen much of him.
  8. Why does he keep going back to a double pivot? Unless Jack has a more advanced role, and GvB's looking to rest Lawrence. No Sands at all? Injured? Kent not being risked is sensible.
  9. Points to the country coefficient from season 2018-2019 to 2022-2023 1. Rangers FC 73.00 2. Celtic FC 45.50 3. Aberdeen 10.50 4. Hibernian 6.50 5. Motherwell FC 3.00 6. St. Johnstone FC 1.00 7. Dundee United 1.00 8. Kilmarnock FC 1.00
  10. Yes, but you're talking about Porto, Benfica, Sporting, Braga etc. They're good sides; quality football. I didn't include Portugal in my list because I thought they were on a different level. Don't La Liga clubs negotiate their own deals too? I reckon we'd get more money doing that, but that would damage the rest of the league.
  11. Bodo/Glimt humped the hooped horrors last season. For me, Bodo/Glimt, Rosenborg, Brann, Viking, Valerenga, Molde, Stromsgodset, Lillestrom beat Scottish sides easily (outwith the Old Firm).

  14. Some of those leagues are (much) better, some worse. All - except Croatia and Czech - do better than us in European competitions.
  15. I think this is a really good question. I don't know about money per game, but in terms of overall package (from Wikipedia, so not sure how accurate these figures are): Belgium - £86m, for every match in their top two leagues, and Woman's league. Netherlands - £67m, for 306 Live Matches + Playoffs. Norway - £63m, for all matches in the top 4 divisions. Poland - £44m, for all live matches in the top league. Sweden - £43m, for 240 matches in the top 2 divisions. Denmark - £35m, for all top division games. Austria - £33m, for all matches in the top division. Scotland - £30m, for 48 live matches and 2 play-offs. Switzerland - £18m, for all 180 live matches in the top division. Croatia - £8m, for all top division games. Czech - £5m, for all top division games.
  16. I'll post it again for those that missed it. The Athletic article from 11 Aug: "Giovanni van Bronckhorst is understood to be adding another first-team coach to his Rangers staff this summer with City Football Group’s Ceri Bowley set to join in the coming weeks. Bowley has held his role as head of coaching support since 2019 and worked closely with Van Bronckhorst during the Dutchman’s six months at CFG. They have maintained a close relationship since and he has been recruited to join Dave Vos, Roy Makaay and Arno Phillips as his trusted assistants. His role at CFG covers coach recruitment, coach development and the overall football methodology employed by the network of clubs. Van Bronckhorst went to learn from their style of play after taking a sabbatical from management following his four seasons in charge of Feyenoord. Bowley was his main contact and it is understood his role will be a wide-ranging one at Ibrox once he arrives. Some outgoing members of staff at CFG are being made to work their notice in full so an exact timeline for his appointment is not yet known. He is expected to join in the new few weeks though as Van Bronckhorst looks to implement the building blocks for the season ahead. Bowley has an academic background having gained a PhD in sports psychology and coaching science from Cardiff Metropolitan University, before working as a researcher and a lecturer in sports science. Bowley was the central figure for coaches at City to liaise with, having spent time at the FA in a coach education capacity. The success of the CFG structure can be seen in the number of trophies and promotions won in recent years. Manchester City have won three of the last four Premier League, New York City FC won their first MLS Cup in 2021, Melbourne City FC won consecutive Premierhsip titles, Troyes won promotion to Ligue 1 in 2021, Yokohama F. Marinos won the Japanese title in 2019 and Mumbai City became the first Indian side to win a league and cup double. Meanwhile Uruguayan side Montevideo City Torque and Spanish club Girona have also won promotions, with the latter going up last year." https://theathletic.com/news/ceri-bowley-rangers-city-group-first-team-coach/Nh1rG1KY6JMO/
