I've always thought that Rangers fans, as a collective, have a kind of mental block when it comes to players - it's maybe a British thing. When they see a player that has flaws, their immediate response is, 'he's not good enough', 'we need to strengthen' and/or 'we need to replace [player X]'. I don't think that's what Ajax would do, for example. They would look at the attributes the player does have, then work at developing the deficiencies in their game. You can't do that without playing them. Sands has the raw attributes to be a good CB, but with some obvious flaws. My view was always, he's got the tools, lets give him a run of games and iron out and improve the flaws. Then, we have a superb player that we can then sell on for a lot of money. Remember Bassey: his first few games at CB were terrible.

I also didn't give us a chance against Dortmund, Red Star, Braga, Leipzig, USG or PSV... I am a woman's blouse.

Koulibaly is a loss, but the aging Mertens and Insigne have not been good for a couple of seasons. They've signed Simeone, Raspadori, and Ndombele; along with adding a Georgian winger for £10m, and making the Anguissa move permanent for £15m. They still have Osimhen and Lozano. They've stated the season well. Liverpool will get into gear when their injuries subside. I feel Ajax are the most vulnerable of the lot, because they've lost a lot of players. As they do, they've drafted in youngsters. Saying that, their team at the weekend was still pretty good. We'll find them a challenge. I don't give us a chance against Liverpool or Napoli, outwith the odd magical night at Ibrox.

I think Liverpool and Napoli walk the group, with us challenging Ajax for 3rd.

Hopefully Man Utd sign Ajax's Antony on the last day of the window meaning they can't strengthen.

There are so many positions that I thought we'd filled, but it still looks like we're short. A new GK would be useful, but we're covered. At LB we do have Red Van, who's looking like he'll be taking a while to get up to speed. We're short at CB, but I have been advocating for Sands in that position for a while. We've got Davies too, along with Souttar and King. We needed a Right-winger, which Matondo looked like the answer, but again, he's taking a while to get up to speed. All the above positions we technically have the cover for. I wouldn't mind getting an #8, though. A box-to-box player, who can graft and make good movements in the final third - a younger Arfield. I would also like an inside forward to play on the right and as cover/competition for the striker position.

Not if we activate the 'option to buy' clause...
