It's not been spectacular by any means, but we definitely deserve a goal from one of our numerous chances.

I would like us to sign another Arfield-type player in January or the Summer.

It looks like it'll be the 4-3-3, with the two 8's today. I suspect GvB will switch between the 4-2-3-1 for harder games (e.g. Hibs away) and 4-3-3 for those games that we should be dominating.

It wasn't right that we didn't need wingers? There's no right or wrong about it: we chose not to play with wingers, but instead two #10s. That's just how SG wanted us to play. We won the league and got out of the Europa League group stage three years on the bounce.

I don't think Candeias was that great a player (he's no Josh Windass), but I do think we'll need natural wingers going forward, as GvB likes to use them. We've not needed wingers for the last 3.5 years.

Oh--and Carrick leaves Man Utd with the best win rate in their history, heading off into the sunset. I thought they'd keep him around to work with Rangnick -- unless Rangnick himself has given him das boot? .

I'm intrigued to see what he does in his six months. He'll transform the playing style and get top four, easy -- simply because even a half-decent Man Utd team doesn't have sustained competition for 4th (West Ham and Arsenal are doing well, but they'll fall away); outwith, maybe, a late Tottenham charge. I do think the 2-year consultancy afterwards is a masterstroke.

Roofe? Starting? That's wildly optimistic for me.
