  1. Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has questioned his players' mentality ahead of the club's crucial Scottish Cup fifth-round replay with Kilmarnock on Wednesday night. Rangers head into the cup tie at Ibrox on the back of a hugely disappointing goalless draw at home to St Johnstone on Saturday, a result that ultimately saw them fall eight points behind Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership. And Gerrard is determined to get rid of any complacency in his players, starting against Killie. "The week's training heading into St Johnstone, I didn't see the team with the right mentality, I saw a bit of ego before that match," said Gerrard. "This doesn't happen very often, we are usually strong. I have told the players in a very honest way that is not acceptable at Rangers. "I don't think I was brutal, I was honest. Maybe I put it across in a more obvious way but I'm not going to lie to them. The reaction shouldn't be for me, it should be for the 49,000 inside Ibrox. "I love my players to bits, they have gone to places for me and the fans that was above and beyond but there have to be times when you have to tell players certain things. It can hurt the player in the short term but will benefit them going forward. "We need to go back to our standards, at the weekend I didn't see a proper Rangers team with the right mentality. "If I see anyone thinking they can just walk into the team I will have words. I have done it myself, had a dip in form and went into cruise control, it's my job to spot it. We have players desperate for success but we are inexperienced in terms of winning." Team news Rangers striker and top scorer Alfredo Morelos returns from a two-game suspension, while midfielder Scott Arfield may feature after recovering from injury. However, the hosts will be without suspended goalkeeper Allan McGregor, midfielder Ryan Jack is an injury doubt and Graeme Dorrans misses out after suffering a setback following almost five months on the sidelines. Meanwhile, Steve Clarke's team will be without suspended centre-back Kirk Broadfoot after his sending-off against Celtic on Sunday and injured full-back Ross Millen. However, the visitors are confident central defender Stuart Findlay will have recovered from injury in time to feature. https://www.skysports.com/football/rangers-vs-kilmarnock/preview/406303
  2. @Gonzo79 beat me to it, but: In a statement, BBC Scotland said: "Our coverage, including analysis and comment, is editorially fair."
  3. I agree. It fits into my point: Five eminently winnable games, to set a marker, and we've not looked up to it; It's extremely frustrating. I thought Davis was done before we signed him. He was the missing link for many. His legs have gone, but I still think he can do a job further back. He's just not the #10 we need. Defoe needs to be supplied; he didn't get a sniff yesterday.
  4. Youths coming through is a big part of the strategy we need. We also need to continuously improve the squad, with astute acquisitions. We're on the right track there, with the DoF etc., but these last coupe of windows are the only instances when we can say we've really improved the squad, IMO. Investment is also key. My heart says next season -- even this season at it's most optimistic; my head says probably a couple of years yet.
  5. Any title challenge was always a long shot. I'm most annoyed at letting our comfortable hold of 2nd slip. I said a few weeks again that this month was important because they were all winnable games. It was a good 12/15 points that could go a long way to opening up a gap in 2nd. A comfortable second was always the target, for me. It's taken a season or two longer than I expected.
  6. FT. 0-0. Against St Johnstone. At home. Brutal.
  7. Why can't we hit the target? How many times have we skied it!?
  8. I thought the first-half was better. This is now turgid.
  9. Gerrard's had enough: Middleton on for Davis. Looks like Kent with play as a 10, Middleton wide left.
  10. It's been alright. We're just lacking a bit of quality, and tempo. The few chances we created should have been taken.
  11. Defoe's hand brushes Kerr's face there, and the Referee, who's miles away, gives the foul. Compare and contrast to the elbow on McCrorie.
  12. Nice passage of play, there. Tavernier lifts his shot too high. Should've scored.
  13. The game's drifting a bit. We need to take charge.
  14. Referee's having a great game here... ...said no one.
  15. Davis knows what he wants to do, but it's not quite coming off. He tried to slip through Defoe with the outside of his foot, but the pass is short. He nutmeged someone earlier, so it's perhaps match sharpness.
  16. A couple of chances in quick succession. Tavernier driving forward, cutting it back for Kent who weaves past a few players but his shot is blocked -- he should have shot earlier. The rebound falls to Kamara, who's shot is palmed to safety.
  17. We started on the back foot, but we've grown into it and we look quite lively now. I like the look of Kamara instantly; his positioning is great, and his control and skills are quite evident. Kent and Candeias on the wings look to have a free role.
  18. There could be three midfielders on the bench, if they're needed; Polstar, Halliday and Coulibaly.
  19. When you're excited about the infinite possibilities of a striker-less formation, only to see both 'injured' strikers in the squad:
  20. It could be 4-3-3, with McCrorie behind Davis and Kamara; or a 4-2-3-1, with Davis as the 10. Very fluid. Looking forward to see Kamara. Polster's on the bench too.
  21. Superb stuff! I really enjoyed the bits I seen. We look to have a good crop coming through.
