  1. Charles Paterson ‏@charlesp_sky #SSN sources understand the issue of the possible re-admittance of "Rangers"/Rangers newco into the SPL will also be on the agenda
  2. The SFL clubs would make a few bob out of the Rangers and why not?

  4. Maybe a few other clubs would ask to play at Hampden?
  5. But...but...but...we don't need Rangers to survive:tongue:
  6. INVERNESS Caledonian Thistle chairman Kenny Cameron says the decision to place the 'Newco' Rangers into the third division next season could "spell the end of football as we know it." Scottish Football League clubs met at Hampden Park this morning to come to a decision on where Charles Green's newco Ibrox club would play, and 25 of the 30 clubs voted the club into the bottom tier. Cameron has said the club's directors are set for an emergency meeting this weekend to discuss the financial implications of the decision. In a statement, Mr Cameron said today was saddening for Scottish clubs, and that no club would escape the consequences. The statement, in full, reads as follows: "There will now inevitably be serious consequences for the game in Scotland. "We have all, as clubs, accepted the views of our stakeholders in making the initial judgement to uphold sporting integrity. "All clubs will now have to live with the repercussions of this decision. Scottish football was at a crossroads today in terms of what was on the table for all clubs regarding reorganisation, financial distribution and a road map that would have taken the game forward. "But this has now been thrown in to disarray by this decision. This is a sad day for all clubs in Scotland." Mr Cameron added: "None of us will escape the financial fallout from this. There was an opportunity on the table, in terms of the joint agreement tabled at today’s meeting for us all to come together and a genuine willingness to improve the game substantially over the coming years. "But it now looks as though this will once again be kicked back in to the long grass. A once in a lifetime opportunity to bring forward change may well have been lost. "The directors of ICTFC are fully aware of the financial implications of this latest decision on Newco. The loss of either our fans or our sponsors was never going to leave any of the clubs in Scotland in a healthy financial position and for some this could spell the end of football as we know it. "Certain clubs in the SFL have perceived the financial information they were receiving as a 'big stick' to beat them into accepting Newco in the First Division. This was definitely not the case, as far as I am concerned. What they were being told was the reality of the situation." The chairman concluded: "We will be convening an emergency board meeting over the weekend to discuss the very serious financial implications for us as a club going forward." The Glasgow club was forced to apply to the SFL after a meeting of SPL clubs last week voted against the newco joining the top tier. Rangers went into administration on February 14 owing over £130 million to creditors. The club will be liquidated, meaning its registration with the Scottish Football Association and SPL ended. A Green-led consortium bought Gers' assests for £5.5 million and created the Rangers newco. A number of the Glasgow club's first-team players have signed with other clubs, rather than play for the newco in a lower division, but manager Ally McCoist has stayed. A decision of whether to let Dunfermline, who were relegated from the SPL last season, or Dundee, who finished second to Ross County in the first division, is imminent.
  7. Grant Russell ‏@STVGrant Queen of the South confirm they voted in favour of Rangers being admitted into the First Division.
  8. In such a scenario, Stranraer would be promoted to Division Two and, below, BBC Sport profiles the teams Rangers would be up against next season. Annan Athletic ANNAN ATHLETIC Ground : Galabank, capacity 2,000 (500 seated), season 2011-12 average 475, artificial surface* Dumfries and Galloway club Annan joined the SFL in 2008 after a vacancy was created by Gretna going out of business. In their four seasons in Division Three, they have come close to promotion once when they reached the play-offs in 2011. Harry Cairney's side have never played Rangers. *Artificial surface being installed for start of season 2012-13. Berwick Rangers BERWICK RANGERS Ground : Shielfield Park, capacity 4,100 (1,350 seated), season 2011-12 average 400, grass surface Affectionately known as 'The Wee Gers', Berwick famously beat the big Gers in a Scottish Cup tie in 1967 with future Rangers manager Jock Wallace in goal. Another surprise Scottish Cup result between the sides took place in 2002, when Berwick held their Glasgow visitors to a 0-0 draw before Rangers eventually won the replay. Clyde's Broadwood Stadium Clyde moved to Broadwood Stadium in 1994 CLYDE Ground : Broadwood Stadium, capacity 8,000, season 2011-12 average 535, artificial surface* Cumbernauld-based Clyde have struggled in recent years, slipping from the First Division in 2009 to the Third Division in 2011, following financial problems that beset the club. Experienced manager Jim Duffy led the side to a second-bottom finish last term. Games between the Bully Wee and Rangers were commonplace until the mid-1970s and the two sides met sporadically in cup tournaments, the most recent meeting being a 5-2 extra-time win for the Ibrox side in 2005. *Artificial surface being installed for start of season 2012-13. East Stirlingshire EAST STIRLINGSHIRE Ground : Ochilview Park, capacity 3,750 (600 seated), season 2011-12 average 320, artificial surface Shire have been tennants of Second Division club Stenhousemuir since leaving Firs Park in 2008 and averaged home crowds of around 300 last season. Billy Dodds netted a hat-trick in a 6-0 win for Rangers when they last played East Stirlingshire in 2002. Elgin City ELGIN CITY Ground : Borough Briggs, capacity 4,900 (450 seated), season 2011-12 average 630, grass surface Elgin, who joined the SFL with Peterhead in 2000, came close to reaching the Second Division for the first time last season, when they reached the promotion play-offs but fell at the semi-final stage. The former Highland League side have lost all three meetings with Rangers in the Scottish Cup. Montrose's Links Park Links Park has an artificial surface MONTROSE Ground : Links Park, capacity 3,250 (1,300 seated), season 2011-12 average 335, artificial surface The Angus side boast last season's Division Three top scorer Martin Boyle, who netted 22 league goals. Rangers have won all five meetings with Montrose, the last of which was in 1976. Peterhead PETERHEAD Ground : Balmoor Stadium (pictured at top of page), capacity 4,000 (1,000 seated), season 2011-12 average 490, grass surface Unlike Elgin, Peterhead have reached the Second Division but were relegated from that division in 2011 and missed out on the play-offs last season. With 20-goal Rory McAllister on board last season, the Balmoor side finished fifth. They have only played Rangers once, a 5-0 Scottish Cup defeat at Ibrox in 2006. Queen's Park striker Jamie Longworth Longworth was Queen's Park's top scorer last term QUEEN'S PARK Ground : Hampden Park, capacity 52,025, season 2011-12 average 520, grass surface Rangers fans are used to watching their side at the national stadium in cup semi-finals and finals and matches against Queen's Park would in effect be a city derby for Ally McCoist's side. The Spiders' Jamie Longworth challenged Boyle and McAllister in the scoring stakes last season with 20 goals. Queen's Park faced Rangers regularly between the 1870s and 1930s, but meetings have been sporadic ever since, the most recent being a 6-0 Scottish League Cup win for Rangers at Ibrox when Maurice Johnston scored four goals. Stirling Albion STIRLING ALBION Ground : Forthbank Stadium, capacity 3,800 (2,508 seated), season 2011-12 average 570, grass surface Stirling were relegated after finishing bottom of the Second Division last season. Albion fans have watched their side slip down the leagues over the last few years, having been in the First Division as recently as 2008. The Binos' last match against Rangers was a narrow League Cup defeat at Ibrox in 1995. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18735027

  10. 40 minute drive for me:smile:
  11. Charles Green, Chief Executive of The Rangers Football Club, said: "We are grateful to be accepted as members of the SFL and accept their decision to vote us into Division 3. "It is a matter of regret for all of us involved with Rangers that the issues surrounding the Club resulted in the SFL and its members being placed in a very difficult position not of their own making. "From the outset, we made clear we would play where we were told to play and we just want to get back to playing football. "This decision maintains the sporting integrity that clubs and fans across Scotland have been calling for but it also impacts massively on Scottish football as a whole and only time will tell what the consequences will be. "Rangers has been handed the ultimate punishment of starting again from the bottom of the leagues but there is an overwhelming feeling among fans and within the Club of 'wiping the slate clean' as a club free of sanctions. "The people who brought shame on this great Club are no longer part of it and everyone at Rangers is focused on rebuilding the club on top of a solid financial foundation. "We wish to play a constructive part in Division 3 and encourage our fans to support the other clubs within the league by attending matches and delivering to them the benefits of having Rangers within their league. "We have been greatly encouraged by the number of supporters who have committed to buying season tickets no matter where we ended up playing and I personally want to thank them for their continued loyalty to the club. "We are a football club and we just want to get back to playing football. Now is the time to move on and start afresh." "Our task to rebuild the Club will take longer now but we are committed to the job and fully believe we will bring success back to Rangers. Manager Ally McCoist said: "I fully accept the decision of the SFL today and thank them for allowing us into the SFL. "Clearly, starting again from the bottom league is not ideal and makes the task of rebuilding Rangers a longer one but the SFL was placed in an impossible situation and I respect its decision. "I fully supported the fans views that starting again in Division 3 maintains the sporting integrity that the SPL clubs were so keen on. "The SPL clubs and the SFA have made their positions clear over the last few weeks and it remains to be seen what the long term effects of their decisions will be. "Rangers has been severely punished for the actions of some individuals who previously ran the Club and it will take time for us to recover but we will come back stronger thanks to the loyalty of the fans and the commitment of everyone at Ibrox who are working tirelessly to bring stability and success back to Rangers." "I will be carefully monitoring events and reactions over the new few days and will be making further comments probably early next week."

  19. The announcement today that Glasgow Rangers will start next season in the Third Division of the Scottish League will be a hard one for their supporters to swallow. Just like when our very own Luton Town were punished for several misdeamours and given a points deduction that, virtually, condemned us to life in non-league football, it`s the supporters that are being punished for decisions taken by people who have crept away into the dark of the night. A sad day for football, a sad day for Glasgow Rangers supporters and a day that brings back memories of when we were royally stitched up! 23. RANGERS' future remains uncertain after the Scottish Football League clubs voted against the Light Blues playing in the First Division next season. At a meeting at Hampden today, the 30 member clubs agreed to accept Rangers into the SFL but voted against the SFL Board being allowed to broker a deal with the SPL and SFA over new structures and procedures which would also include Rangers playing in Division One. It is now understood that on the back of a briefing SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster and SFA counterpart Stewart Regan gave to clubs last week that the SPL will introduce a plan for SPL 2 - which would include Rangers - and invite existing Division One members to join. http://www.tv.rangers.co.uk/articles/20120713/sfl-vote-against-first-division_2254024_2848518
  24. Well!,if this is a final decision,which I doubt,we will see how the BHEASTS react!,a party?
