Legatt - LENNON MUST FACE CRACKDOWN FROM REGAN'S SFA
ian1964 posted a topic in General Football Chat
STEWART REGAN has been given a golden opportunity to show just how even handed his Scottish Football Association is. Though his Hampden boardroom pal, Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell, no doubt will not approve if the SFA do the right thing.. For SFA chief executive, Regan and the hatchet man he brought in to, Compliance Officer, Vincent Lunny, simply have to crack down hard on the seemingly out of control Celtic manager, Neil Lennon. After all, lawyer Lunny hasnâ??t dilly-dallied when it has come to swinging the axe on other clubs â?? notably Rangers â?? since he was appointed by the Regan-Lawwell SFA. Now he has got the chance to show everyone how even handed he is and to convince every one that sauce for the goose is, indeed, sauce for the gander. In the past I have often tried to find a defence for some of Lennonâ??s excesses pointing to the personal and professional courtesy he has extended to me in the past. But recently he has stepped over the line on a number of occasions. Some of the things heâ??s been up to are indefensible. I still believe that he gets sucked into the vortex of madness and badness which seems to have engulfed the Parkhead club in the last six or seven years and I maintain that much of the madness which swirls around Celtic, damaging the club in England and abroad, including the bigotry of such quasi-para-military groups as the Green Brigade, could be stamped out by head honcho Lawwell. But the fact is that once again it is Lennon who is out there taking the flak in the firing line, with Lawwell nowhere to be seen or heard. And there surely must be plenty of the flak coming Lennonâ??s way from the SFA after his outspoken and outrageous comments about referee Willie Collumâ??s decision not to award Celtic a penalty in the fourth minute of added time and to book Anthony Stokes for diving. Unless of course Lunny uses his expertise as a lawyer to overrule Cup Final official Collumâ??s expertise as a referee and rule that it should have been a spot kick. That would not surprise me. After all he has already put one whistler in the dock by saying his decision to award a penalty was wrong and the player who went down was not fouled, but dived and must therefore be banned. Of course the team on the wrong end of Reganâ??s man, lawyerâ??s Lunny rewriting of history, was Rangers. No surprise there, then. Letâ??s just pause and remember what Lennon said. He called Collumâ??s decision criminal, adding that it was made worse by booking Stokes for diving. A chargeable offence? Surely if any other manager spoke out in such intemperate language is would be. But Lennon may believe being manager of Celtic gives him extra protection from the SFA. Lennon also went on to speculate that he may speak to refereesâ?? chief John Fleming to get his opinion. I do hope Fleming gives him short shrift. Iâ??m pretty certain his predecessor, Hugh Dallas would have. But remembering what happened to Dallas, fearing Regan, his boardroom pal Lawwell, along with lawyer Lunny, Fleming may be looking over his shoulder and who could blame him for lending a sympathetic ear to Lennonâ??s rantings? Something else Lennon said was not actionable, but was most certainly objectionable and underlined the complete contempt in which he and Celtic hold all the other clubs. According to Lennon, the decision by Collum which he described as criminal, cost Celtic the Treble. REALLY? So if Celtic had been awarded a penalty they were certain to score. And they were then sure things to go on and win in extra time. That's what Lennon meant. REALLY? What a contemptuous statement about Kilmarnock, who so deservedly triumphed. And what about the Scottish Cup? And the sort of opposition Celtic can expect from either St Mirren or Hearts who they will face in the semi finals? There was not much respect there for either Saints or Hearts, and not a thought for whoever turns up at Hampden on Scottish Cup Final. According to Lennon they will be there just provide cannon fodder for Celtic. Just as Kilmarnock were supposed to on Sunday. Except they didnâ??t. So at least now every other club in Scottish football has been made aware of just how lowly they are regarded by the Celtic manager and by association, looked down on with contempt by Celtic. Is there anyone who believes Walter Smith would ever have spoken in such a disrespectful way. Or the late Tommy Burns? For the simple reason they never did. There isnâ??t anything Peter Lawwellâ??s pal and SFA boardroom colleague, Stewart Regan and hatchet man, lawyer Lunny, can do about that. But they must make sure that justice is blind and deal with Neil Lennon for the comments he made about referee Willie Collum. â?¦â?¦â?¦ ANDâ?¦â?¦. WHAT you sow, so shall you reap. And that was never more true than the harvest which failed for Dundee United when Rangers visited Tannadice on Saturday. Manager Peter Houstonâ??s team may have won three points, but chairman Steven Thomsonâ??s rantings about Rangers cost his club. Thomson's Dundee United LOST £40,000 on the day. That is what the unsold 1,800 tickets for the visitorsâ?? stand would have raked in for the hard up Tannadice club. But 1,800 Rangers supporters, unhappy at Dundee United chairman, Thomson, who they see as Peter Lawwellâ??s poodle, hit him where it hurts. When the Ibrox team went to Inverness recently the tickets available for the away supporters were sold out. Not so at Dundee United, seen as part of the Celtic cabal. It is a tactic which Rangers supporters will start using on a regular basis to ensure that no club takes Rangers and their fans for mugs, or is seen to appear to collude with Celtic. Itâ??s a good tactic too. ........ FINALLY........ PHILMACGIOLLABHAIN and Matt McGlone's pal, Channel Four's Alex Thomson is in town preparing his hatchet job on Rangers. He was prowling around the hall in Govan last night when a BBC Five Live debate on Rangers was broadcast. Check him out on Twitter for identification purposes should he try his wee sleekit trick anywhere where he isn't welcome. A polite, you're not welcome here, old chap, please leave, should do the trick. http://leggoland2.blogspot.co.uk/ -
My bad interpretation I think, reading it again it reads as though they complained about the penalty in the game against us!

COPS were last night probing allegations referee Willie Collum has received death threats. Celtic fans were furious he denied the Hoops a last-minute penalty in Sunday's final. Now Strathclyde Police are investigating twisted internet abuse against the 33-year-old. A spokesman said: "We have received a number of complaints and will be looking into the matter." Teacher Collum, of Carfin, Lanarkshire, was bombarded with hate messages on Twitter within minutes of the final whistle. One read: "If I see Willie Collum at school tomorrow I will kill him!" Another sicko wrote: "A hope Willie Collum f*****g dies," and a demented tweeter posted: "I hope you die in your sleep#orsuuferabulletfromtheIRA." In 2010, Collum â?? who teaches at Cardinal Newman High in Bellshill, Lanarkshire â?? received threatening phonecalls after taking charge of a tense Old Firm match. He provoked fury when he awarded Rangers a penalty for their last goal in a 3-1 victory. The decision prompted Celtic to contact the SFA for a second time to complain about him. The Blue Knights will look to borrow more than £5million from Ticketus to use as working capital if they win the battle for control of Rangers. The Paul Murray-led consortium are one of the three formal bids administrators Duff & Phelps have on the table, although others are anticipated in the coming days. Ticketusâ?? involvement with the Blue Knights raised some eyebrows, given that the London-based firm previously paid Craig Whyte £24.4m for the next three yearsâ?? Ibrox season tickets to fund his buyout last year. Duff & Phelps were in court yesterday trying to remove the claim Ticketus have on future tickets. That matter will be considered again on Tuesday. If Duff & Phelps are unsuccessful, Ticketus will remain a major player. Murray plans to ask them for £5m in order to get the club to a point where they can have a share flotation to generate more funds. He then hopes to renegotiate the terms of the ticket deal Whyte secretly struck with Ticketus to help Rangers pay off Lloyds Bank to the tune of £18m. Murrayâ??s consortium includes businessmen Douglas Park, Scott Murdoch and John Bennett, as well as supportersâ?? groups. But it appears Ticketus will bridge the short-term finance gap. Last week, Murray spelled out his intention to increase the clubâ??s borrowing if his takeover is successful. â??When you are bringing together a consortium of 10 people to put up funding, it can take time,â?? he said. â??Ticketus will, in effect, underwrite stage one of our plan, which will be to back the cash purchase of the club and provide initial working capital. â??The Blue Knights will be a body standing behind them. The individuals will give personal pledges to Ticketus against the money used. â??We may not need all of the working capital, as we would hope to have season-ticket money coming in May. â??Stage two would then be a share issue open to all. Again, the Blue Knights would invest in that, as well as the cash pledges being put up to complete the purchase. â??Stage three would be to renegotiate the Ticketus terms to something which the club can afford to pay.â?? Meanwhile, Kyle Lafferty, out injured since January, is one of five players Rangers hope to have back for Sundayâ??s Old Firm game. Carlos Bocanegra and Dorin Goian will return after suspension, while Steven Whittaker, another who has been on the injured list, could also be in the squad. CELTIC captain Scott Brown today pointed the finger of blame at referee Willie Collum for costing his side the chance of lifting the League Cup – and ending their Treble dream. The Parkhead club should have been awarded a gilt-edged opportunity to level the scores in stoppage time when Anthony Stokes was fouled by Kilmarnock defender Michael Nelson as he raced in on goal. Trailing 1-0 at the time, after substitute Dieter van Tornhout had headed the Rugby Park club into an unexpected lead, Neil Lennon’s side thought they were about to be handed a lifeline when Stokes went down just as it looked like he was about to pull the trigger. To Brown’s disbelief, the whistler failed to point to the spot and ended up booking the Irishman for diving in what was his side’s last serious opportunity to keep their treble dreams alive at Hampden Park. The Hoops captain said: “We should have had a penalty. Everyone knew what was happening and I think their coaching staff knew as well, but the referee somehow didn’t see it. It was definitely not a dive and he has the scars to prove it. “That would have taken it to extra-time had we scored it and we were in the driving seat at that time.” Although Celtic weren’t at their best at the National Stadium, Neil Lennon’s side still managed to carve out far more goalscoring opportunities only to be denied by some outstanding saves from Kilmarnock keeper Cammy Bell. The pick of the bunch was a first-half save to deny Anthony Stokes from opening the scoring with a low header and the shot-stopper also made impressive stops from Gary Hooper, Georgios Samaras, Kris Commons, Victor Wanyama as well as Brown himself. The Parkhead midfielder added: “I think over the 90 minutes we were the better side, but their keeper played very well. We just didn’t manage to get the ball in the back of the net. But I thought we played well and kept the ball well. “We’ve been flying recently, but we always knew it would be difficult against Kilmarnock. You have to give credit to them because they played a good game as well. “They managed to go up the park and score and keep a clean sheet at the other end.” http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/scott-brown-blames-ref-willie-collum-for-celtic-s-final-defeat-1.1153866

IBROX will be a sea of Union flags next Sunday - and it will help raise a massive amount of money for the Rangers Fans Fighting Fund. In a great initiative, fans will be able to get hold of a flag ahead of the Celtic game with a minimum donation of £2 - and all of the money raised will go straight to the Fighting Fund. The fund, launched last week, has already pulled in well over six figures and money is coming in all the time. A total of 43,000 flags will be available on derby day with volunteers stationed inside each turnstile to collect money. Supporters Liaison Officer Jim Hannah said: "We are hoping to have a spectacular display of Union flags at the game with Celtic and I'm sure it will be. "We had planned to have the display but then it was felt we could raise money by encouraging a £2 donation on the day. "So I took the idea to people within the club and supporters groups and we got the go-ahead so hopefully this will raise a fair amount of money as well. "Fans will be able to donate any amount they want but we are saying a £2 minimum. "The flags will be available inside every turnstile - well every turnstile for home fans - and we feel it should be a really good money-raiser. "I already have volunteers to look after all of these collections so we are all systems go." http://www.tv.rangers.co.uk/articles/20120319/flying-the-flag_2254024_2664996 This should please the BHEASTS:devil:

Killie deserved the win and it was NEVER a penalty. I would hope he will face punishment for calling the refs integrity into question. -

SO much for those who scoffed at what I wrote yesterday about Celtic trying to escape to English football without Rangers. For Neil Lennon was quoted all over the Sunday papers saying how he believed Celtic could hold their own in the English Premiership. While an old mate of mine, Alan Nixon, who is seriously well connected down south, had a Sunday Mirror exclusive which revealed that talks between Celtic and the Championship have actually STARTED. Maybe I wasnâ??t quite so far off the mark as ever smart Alec and doubting Thomas thought. Though given what happened at Hampden yesterday when Kilmarnock beat Celtic 1-0 to lift the Scottish Communities League Cup, those talks with the second tier south of the border are a more realistic assessment of Celticâ??s status. Not quite first class. Certainly Lennonâ??s interview live on BBC Scotland lacked class as he hammered referee Willie Collum for not awarding Celtic a penalty in the fourth minute of added time. The BBC studio guests were divided, with ex Celtic man John Hartson insisting it was a clear cut penalty, while Scotland manager Craig Levein insisted with equal certainty that there had been no contact. After viewing it about a dozen times I agree with Levein. Well, thereâ??s a first time for everything. I just hope wee Willie, who many sound Scottish soccer judges rate highly, has his local polis station and a glazier on speed dial. Death threats have alteady started to appear on line with this devout Christian, who teaches RI at a Roman Catholic school branded an "Orange B*****d and a "Hun!" There's nothing really surprising about that, though. In the wake of the news that Steve Conroy is chucking it at the end of the season and the prediction that others will follow, I forecast Collum could be one. Now is has started to get the same treatment other refs who have angered Celtic have had from the enraged Celtic hierarchy and the thuggish so called best fans in the world, then Collum would be well advised to pack it in. For his own and his familyâ??s safety. The fact is that Celticâ??s failure to win the Treble this season, with Rangers weaker than they have been since Celtic came into being, must be regarded as proof they ainâ??t as good as they think they are. Not by a long way. Which is why any negotiations to cut and run from Scotland must be more realistically aimed at the Championship, with no guarantee they would get out of it at the first, second or even third attempt. At least, not in the direction they would want to go. However, to every smart Alec and every doubting Thomas who believe Iâ??ve got the silver cooking foil surrounding LeggoLand, hereâ??s another wee prediction. There will be more straws in the wind about Celticâ??s English ambitions. And eventually, why Craig Whyte bought Rangers and where he gets the money to support his millionaireâ??s lavish lifestyle, will be revealed. â?¦â?¦â?¦ ANDâ?¦â?¦.. I cannot agree with the sentiments expressed by Rangers supporters about how England gubbing Ireland at rugger and Killie giving Celtic a Cup Final doing spoiled St Patrickâ??s Day for Celtic fans. It did, of course. But St Patrick belongs top all of Ireland. In fact, Iâ??ve got a pal â?? a retired RUC sergeant who is the holder of the Queenâ??s Police Medal â?? who always celebrates it. Usually with a few Ulstermen who support Rangers. For me, the highlight of the St Patrickâ??s celebrations and what would spoil the Paddywackery for many Celtic supporters, was watching the Duchess of Cambridge â?? aka the lovely Kate â?? hand out the Shamrocks to the loyal soldiers of Her Majestyâ??s Irish Guards. The young man who will one day become King William, is the colonel-in-chief of the Irish Guards â?? a honour his great grandmother the late Queen Mum once held â?? and he wore their scarlet tunic, with his blue RAF Sash, when he was married. And another two Ulstermen, the manager of Kilmarnock and his son, should also be included. So there are some things about St Patrickâ??s Day which the plastic paddies of Parkhead have not yet highjacked. â?¦â?¦.. FOR SALEâ?¦â?¦ CELTIC HI FI. Bass? Ok! Volume? Quiet! Treble? Kaput! â?¦â?¦. FINALLYâ?¦â?¦ HERE is how Philmacgiollabhain works. At around 8.30am on Saturday LeggoLand was published and it I predicted that Scottish Football Association president, the utterly honest Campbell Ogilvie, would defend and explain himself in the papers the following day. About six hours later Philmacgiollabhain was Twittering that he had been tipped off that Ogilvie had done an interview with the Sunday newspapers. Dear! Dear! But now that I know that Philmacgiollabhain is a reader, Iâ??ll take care not to use too many big words. And I wonder how he enjoyed his trip to Hampden yesterday? At the end, all he could see was happy honest Scottish faces from Ayrshire, Burnsâ?? Country, belting out their team's wonderful anthem, Paper Roses. Not quite how he expected his wee day out in the city of his birth to end, I'll wager. http://leggoland2.blogspot.co.uk/

FURIOUS Anthony Stokes last night accused referee Willie Collum of ROBBING Celtic of their Treble dream. Collum snubbed desperate Hoops appeals for a penalty in the dying seconds of injury-time at Hampden. And instead he booked Stokes for a DIVE following a last-ditch tackle by Michael Nelson. The Irishman was about to shoot at point-blank range, with Celtic pushing for an equaliser to force at least extra-time, when Nelson slid in from behind. Stokes fell to the ground and TV pictures appeared to show it was a STONEWALL spot-kick. But as the Killie players held their breath, whistler Collum instead raced across and pulled out a yellow card. Stokes had to be held back as he exploded with rage moments before Collum blew for time. But later the still angry Celts star said: "It's a stonewall penalty as far as I'm concerned. "Did I seek an explanation? You never get any off the refs up here — so I don't expect anything different this time. "I just don't know how I've got booked for diving. The boy caught me. He said himself that even he couldn't understand how it wasn't a penalty. But, obviously, the ref has seen something different. "Their defender said he caught me. I knew that myself but there is is not much I can do about it." What Stokes can't understand is why Collum would think he'd opt for theatrics when he only had the sensational Cammy Bell to beat from barely six yards. He said: "I was one-on-one with the keeper and I'm not on penalties. I don't take them. "I'd have fancied my chances of scoring from where I was. I've lost the head when he's come over and shown me the card. "As far as I was concerned, it was a stonewaller." Team-mate Victor Wanyama — one of several Celts denied by Bell, tipping over a second-half header from the Kenyan — backed up Stokes' verdict. He said: "We think it was a very big penalty decision because their guy didn't touch the ball. "Everybody is disappointed we didn't get the penalty. Obviously we are going to feel cheated because it was a clear penalty." Stokes gave credit to Bell for his display — which started after just two minutes with a one-on-one save from Gary Hooper. He said: "Their keeper made some great saves. I thought we dominated the game and played well. But we just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net. "We had chances from early on. Hoops had one and nine times out of ten he would put it away. "But we kept on creating plenty of chances. Even in the second half, I thought we had sustained pressure before they went up the park and scored. You just have to congratulate Kilmarnock. At the end of the day, they are the winners and well done to them." Stokes denied expectancy of a Treble had proved too much. He added: "Not at all. We just approached it as we do every other game and treated it in the same manner." Wanyama started in centre midfield but was then switched back to centre-half after 56 minutes when Neil Lennon realised Plan A was not proving very effective. Wanyama said: "I think we could've done better, but we were also unlucky. I don't think there was any pressure affecting us. "But Kilmarnock also did well. We were just unlucky. Today you have to give them credit. They did their best and they have won." Killie goal v Celtic in Scottish Communities League Cup Final 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJRv8rK4oa0

Celtic manager Neil Lennon bemoaned missed chances and an unsuccessful penalty claim in his side's Scottish Communities League Cup final defeat. Anthony Stokes went to ground in the box as he was challenged by Killie's Michael Nelson but referee Willie Collum waved away spot-kick appeals. The incident took place after Dieter van Tornhout headed the only goal. "You've got to take your chances and we missed simple chances. We should've had a penalty," Lennon told BBC Scotland. "It's a penalty and a sending off at a big moment in the game. I'm not saying we would've scored the penalty but I think the referee's got that one completely wrong." Lennon cited missed opportunities for Gary Hooper and Stokes as he reflected on Celtic's defeat, which ended his side's hopes of completing a domestic treble. Continue reading the main story â??Any1 that thinks I wud dive wen I'm 1 on 1 wit d keeper needs their head checked. So disappointed but we still have so much to play forâ? Anthony Stokes Via Twitter. Link "If we had got one, we might have gone on to win the game comfortably," Lennon told BBC Scotland. "We conceded a poor goal from our point of view. "We dominated the game so Kilmarnock can count themselves pretty fortunate that they've won the game. And maybe that's down to a lot of luck on their part and poor finishing from us. "We couldn't have played that bad. He [goalkeeper Cammy Bell] has made six or seven great saves to keep Kilmarnock in it. That happens in a cup final. "I'm very disappointed for our players but we've got a league championship and a cup to win so we'll lift them again and go again." Lennon also said news of a suspected heart attack for Kilmarnock midfielder Liam Kelly's father had put things "into perspective". "My sympathies go to [Liam] and his family," added Lennon. "All my thoughts go with the family. "It makes my pain pale into insignificance to what he's feeling." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17424226 Class Lennon, pure class ya wee bigoted twisted bastard, give Killie credit ffs, they deserved their win
