Celtic will be the first Scottish team to play at the new Wembley and Rangers will take on their old boss Paul Le Guen at the Emirates Stadium.. Gordon's Strachan's team will be first out of the blocks on the weekend beginning July 24 at the home of English football. In the Wembley Cup, they will face either Barcelona, Tottenham or African champions Al-Ahly during the two-day tournament. Seven days later, on August 1, Rangers will take on Arsenal, Inter Milan or Paris St Germain who are managed by Le Guen. If Barry Ferguson is still with the Ibrox side it will be the first time he has come face to face with the boss who first stripped him of the captaincy. For Rangers in particular, the Emirates Cup is a huge vote of confidence from south of the border following the riots in Manchester at last year's UEFA Cup Final. The Ibrox Club are expected to get more than 10,000 tickets for the glamour friendlies and it could net the club �£750,000. A club source said: "I'm sure our fans will relish the chance to show what a great club Rangers are . They will create a brilliant atmosphere at one of the world's finest stadiums." Celtic are understood to be thrilled at the prospect of playing at the new Wembley. The last Scottish team to play on the famous Wembley turf was our national side on November 18, 1999 when Don Hutchison scored the only goal of the game in a Euro 2000 play-off. Scotland missed out on qualifying 2-1 on aggregate. It's still unclear how many tickets the Parkead side will get but their massive travelling support will ensure a large percentage of the 90,000 seats.

The former CardiffNeil Alexander and Ipswich keeper has been given the slot as a result of the two-week suspension imposed on Allan McGregor and has already played against Falkrik and St Mirren. However, Alexander, who faces Motherwell tomorrow, does not want to stand aside when McGregor is available again and wants to show he should be the first pick. He said: "The manager has not told me how long I am in for so it's just a case of going in and trying to do the best I can. "I certainly hope I can keep my place going forward. If I'm not doing the business then the manager has obviously got to look at the situation. "Allan will be back in a week or so and Graeme Smith is waiting in the wings but I hope to prove to the fans and the manager that I'm good enough to be the Rangers No1. "I was obviously disappointed at the start of the season but Allan had been playing well and deserved to keep his place. "However I have never thought about leaving here. It's a dream come true to be playing for a club like Rangers and I want to do it for as long as I can. "I've got a wee run of games now and hopefully I can continue after that." Alexander came in this time last year when McGregor damaged his ankle at Parkhead and ended up winning the Scottish Cup and helping Rangers to the UEFA Cup Final.Alexander comes on for McGregor He said "It seems to be that come April I am called upon and it's a bit daunting because I am coming in to a high pressurised situation but I handled it last year and I enjoyed it last year so hopefully I can do the same again. "Last year was different because we had the big European games as well whereas this year the focus is the league title. Every game is a cup final. "It's frustrating sitting on the bench but I have an opportunity now and hopefully I can take it with both hands. "At Rangers the spotlight is always on you and you can't afford to make mistakes, especially when you are a goalkeeper because they could result in goals. "So there is a little bit more pressure on my position but I am fully aware of that and hopefully I can do the job to the best of my ability and not let anybody down." Ironically, if Alexander shines for Rangers it could lead to a recall to the Scotland set-up which McGregor has been banished from. However, the keeper knows where his priorities lie. He said: "I spoke to Allan briefly just after the Scotland thing. I tried to call him yesterday but his phone was switched off. Obviously he is keeping his head down and thinking about what he has done and I'm sure he will come back a stronger and better person for it. "First and foremost my priority is to do a good job for Rangers and whatever comes along with that then great. If it gets the attention of the Scotland manager and puts me in his thoughts that's fantastic. "However, my main priority is to do the best job I can for Rangers."

RANGERS' u19s title hopes took a huge blow this afternoon as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of a Motherwell side enjoying their fifth consecutive win. Darren ColeIt could prove to be a costly result for Billy Kirkwood's boys as it leaves them trailing league leaders Hibs by five points with just three games remaining. The Edinburgh club have the chance to extend that lead to eight points when they face capital rivals Hearts and Billy Kirkwood knows his side need a favour from the Jambos to keep their hopes alive. "It's a difficult position we find ourselves in but it all depends on what Hearts do against Hibs. We've always said that it's about what we do, but now we're looking for favours and it shouldn't be like that. "It's the first time this season that I can say to the lads that it hasn't been about missed chances or bad deliveries, we just didn't do enough today. "But the two goals we gave away were poor and I didn't think there was anything between us before the penalty. "Over the piece though we only had one shot on goal and I thought Motherwell were well worth their win in the end." The home side set themselves on the way to that win just five minutes before the end of a scrappy first half when Darren Cole was penalised for pulling down Steven Lawless. But just as Bagci was threatening to turn the game in the Light Blues' favour, Motherwell hit the Gers with a sucker punch second. A short free kick was rolled in to the path of Jordan Halsmann and the full back rifled a fine left foot shot off the inside of the post and in to the back of the net from 20 yards. With Rangers chasing the game Motherwell had chances to add to their scoreline with Paul Slane in particular looking impressive on the left side of their midfield. There would be no further scoring, but that will be of little consolation to Kirkwood and his side who will now await with interest the result from Edinburgh on Saturday. THE family and friends of Rangers fanatic Garry Lynch have helped raise �£25,000 for the Rangers Youth Department after calling on fans to buy Rising Stars tickets in his memory. Garry sadly passed away in February aged just 52 and his family - wife Elaine, son Garry and daughter Angela - have been astounded by the support they have received from the Rangers Family. After discussions with friends and fellow Rangers fans, the idea of helping the Rangers Youths, which was one of Garry's favourite pastimes, came to the fore. Neil Alexander promotes the Gary Lynch Rising StarsFollowing talks with the Club, his family and friends launched a campaign to sell Rising Stars tickets in his honour and in the past few weeks supporters from around the globe have bought almost 35,000 tickets. By Andrew Dickson WALTER SMITH has confirmed DaMarcus Beasley has not suffered a break after he was taken off last night against St Mirren with a rib injury. The American winger needed treatment on the pitch after he went down when he was challenged by John Potter in the opening minutes of the 2-1 win. DaMarcus Beasley is fouled by John PotterAlthough he briefly came back after being carried off, he wasn't able to continue for long and was soon replaced by Nacho Novo. Beasley will definitely miss Saturday's match with Motherwell but his problem isn't that serious that it'll keep him out in the long term. The same applies to Sasa Papac, who also limped off in the first half after a late tackle on him from Billy Mehmet. He required stitches and while he'll also be absent at the weekend, the race is now on for him to get fit for the trip to Hibernian on April 19. Smith said: "There's no break there for DaMarcus and that's good news, although we're not quite sure at this stage how long he'll be out for. "It was certainly a painful blow he took so from that point of view, he'll definitely miss the game at the weekend. "Sasa is another who'll be missing. He needed stitches last night on a cut and there's a bit of swelling there just now. "Again, we'll wait and see how long the problem takes to clear but I'd be hopeful he will be able to return next weekend at Easter Road." Losing Beasley and Papac means Gers could be without at least nine first-team players against Motherwell. Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor are still serving their suspensions imposed by the club, while Kevin Thomson is out until next season after knee surgery. Lee McCulloch, Kenny Miller, Kirk Broadfoot and Kyle Lafferty are also sidelined with a variety of ailments.

MADJID BOUGHERRA will miss the first SPL game after the split through suspension after being booked in last night's 2-1 win over St. Mirren. The Algerian was on 15 disciplinary points prior this fixture but was shown a yellow card on 67 minutes for dissent after referee Eddie Smith awarded a dubious foul against him. This took the centre-half to 18 points and he will now be unavailable for the first of five games after the split which of which could be against Old Firm rivals Celtic. The news will be frustrating for boss Walter Smith who only recently welcomed Bougherra back in to his starting eleven after a spell on the treatment table with a calf injury.

If he doesn't ply Steven Smith, then he will play Whittaker @ LB with Dailly @ RB

WALTER SMITH has confirmed that DaMarcus Beasley and Sasa Papac will miss Saturday's SPL clash against Motherwell. TBeasley had to go off injuredhe pair were first-half casualties in tonight's 2-1 win over St. Mirren with Papac needing five stitches to an ankle knock and Beasley taken to hospital with a rib problem. Rangers will find out the full extent of both injuries tomorrow but Smith praised his team for digging deep to get a vital win against Gus MacPherson's men. He said: "I thought in the first-half we played some very good football and we were delighted with the two goals we scored. "The first was an excellent move while the second was a terrific header from Mo. "So we were pleased to go in at half-time two goals up, especially as we lost both DaMarcus and Sasa in the early stages. "We had to adjust to that and it looks as though both will miss Saturday's game against Motherwell. "In the second-half we allowed St. Mirren back in to the game with a disappointing goal and that made for a nervy finish. "But we held on and I though we deserved the points overall. "We have now won two tricky away games in a row and we have had injury problems to deal with along the way. "We now have to keep this run going."

I believe Rangers are linked with Cerny & McArthur for next season, could just be rumours of course

If Caldwell can do it for the MOPES then I don't see why Bougherra can't do it for us as he is far more skillfull on the ball.............not that I am trying to copy the SCUM
