Yep, but i'm not paid to watch that torture, it costs me to watch it. Gerrard on the other hand is paid to watch it and he's not going to quit it over a match result. And I don't mean for the money.

A person not at the game abusing Rangers supporters losing their temper at a completely embarrassing performance.

Go to a match and call passionate people 'wanks'.

Are you serious? Anything goes at a football match when your team is being beaten and anyone who wasn't there can't comment on any behaviour at all?

What else is just fine? Throw anything at all that comes to hand and it's justified and not open to comment unless you were there?

Need to be at Easter road to call the bottle thrower a wank when his team were being drubbed otherwise say nothing? The object throwing at Fir park is just fine because their team were being beaten and you can only comment on it if you were there?

I can find no words to describe the absurdity of that. Actually I could but I wasn't there so I can't comment apparently.

    Are you sure?

Your profile pic is a player, who has been woeful recently, throwing a ghost punch at an opposition player after they beat Rangers.  What kind of message does that send - you're a fan of violence, underperforming footballers and losing?

Yes, i'm sure. If he quits anytime soon get back to me and say told you so but when he doesn't you get back to me and acknowledge I was right. And I don't think it takes much in the way of smarts to form the opinion that he wont be quitting over this.

Plus I can see no rational connection between that opinion and an avatar intended to be humorous.

  4. This is in reference to the EPL. But I can imagine the screams of masonic conspiracy if this happened in Scotland and the yahoos were denied a 9th title due to it. Mad Phil would be envisaging a secret super-lab in the Shankill disseminating all manner of anti sellick viruses.

Despite being 22 points clear, Liverpool could yet miss out on the Premier League title if coronavirus cuts short the season.

Jurgen Klopp's side have 'no guarantee' that they would still be crowned champions should the season end prematurely due to the scale of the virus outbreak, according to the Telegraph.

The report goes further to detail that 'no specific regulation' is in place should such a scenario play out that all 38 top-flight games are incomplete and it could see all three teams in the relegation zone reprieved.

More than 80,000 people in close to 50 countries have been infected with the virus so far - with 2,800 confirmed to have died.

Switzerland's government made the decision on Friday to cancel all events set to involve 1,000 people or more in their efforts to tackle the disease, with all football fixtures called off this weekend.

If the Premier League were to follow suit following mirroring advice from the UK government, Liverpool could miss out.

There are 11 matches remaining in the Premier League season with Liverpool cruising to their first top-flight title in 30 years.

But the virus is spreading quickly across Europe and it has increased fears that the UK government could 'opt to cancel sporting events for two months'.

In the event of a suspension or cancellation, it is reported that 'crisis talks' are likely to be held to determine if the previous 27 rounds of matches would be available to stand.

Liverpool have won 26 matches so far in a stunning campaign with one draw to Manchester United earlier in the campaign the only thing preventing them from a flawless run to the title.

Klopp's side need just four more wins to claim the Premier League title and any move to take that away from them would prove highly controversial.

Any suspension of matches would raise further issues around European qualification and relegation at the time of the suspension, particularly with both of those situations in the balance, rather than Liverpool being far and away the team all set to win the league.

Chelsea are currently fourth in the race for the Champions League while Manchester United are three points behind in sixth, Tottenham and Sheffield United are four points behind in seventh and eighth respectively.

Norwich, Watford and West Ham sit in the relegation zone but are far from condemned and with a need for consistency in the decision making, should the virus could to spread and get worse across the UK, all results could be wiped with no title or relegation for the 2019-20 campaign.

UK coronavirus cases has risen to 19 and there are growing fears large-scale events will need to be postponed to prevent a rise in cases.

The Premier League have said they currently have no plans to end pre-match handshakes in a bid to tackle the passing of the virus.

Newcastle revealed on Friday that they have banned their players from shaking hands with each other amid the fear of coronavirus.

The Magpies have long since had a training-ground tradition whereby players and staff greet one another with a handshake every morning.

Entire football season 'could be declared "null and void" if the Government orders sports events to be cancelled to combat the rapid spread of coronavirus'

  5. I feel it's something that may be worth the authorities looking at on some level. But at the same time in this instance Arsenal had already been recipients of what's seen as something of an advantage. It's traditionally been seen as an advantage to play the first leg away from home then you know exactly what's required in the second leg on home turf.

In a situation like this it may be argued that this advantage was simply evened out by the opportunity of extra time for the away team. And at the end of the day Arsenal went into this match with all the advantages already in place. They had an away goal and a one goal lead. They blew it. Arguably even more spectacularly than the yahoos did.

Either way you injected Aberdeen into the chat the way you often do.  Your prerogative... but if the sheep are so inferior to us the way you suggest why is it you take plentiful opportunities to point out what their fans say about us or our oppsition ?  Shows you visit their forums, again your prerogative, but I couldn’t tell you who our fiercest rivals play this weekend because I couldn’t care less... yet this vastly inferior club has you visiting their forums to see what they say about us or our opponents..... and we say Celtic fans are obsessed with Rangers

You had to travel through 16 pages of a thread to find someone making reference to non-game related chat.... sure, call out that post.... but that means of 150 posts yours is one of a handful that is completely unrelated to the actual match thread (if you suggest Aberdeen fans views of Braga are relevant to match thread we will absolutely need to agree to disagree)

Well you're right, we absolutely need to agree to disagree. Football forums aren't scientific papers. They're littered with posts containing remarks with a peripheral connection to the specific topic of a thread. I didn't need to travel through 16 pages of a thread. I typically look at the last page and the post I responded to was on the last page at that time.

As for the sheep being vastly inferior in my view they are. I don't think for a moment they could have any hope of being in the last 16 of a European tournament. But again if you don't think they're so inferior it's just another of those agree to disagree areas.

Tom English has just given his conclusion

"Celtic are a better team, had they gone through they would have gone further in the tournament than Copenhagen".

Some would say that sounds a bit Irish?

I think they are better than Copenhagen but at this stage that doesn't automatically translate to going further. There's a lot of quality sides still in this tournament. Sides far better than the yahoos.

  8. So it's now all settled but RB Salzburg v Frankfurt which is playing tomorrow with Frankfurt holding a 4-1 lead. I would take Copenhagen now. Not only are they probably the weakest opposition still standing how satisfying would it be to pull and beat their conquerors.

    Copenhagen

    Roma

    Wolfsburg

    LASK

    Basel

    Leverkusen

    Istanbul Basaksehir

    Wolves

    Shakhtar Donetsk

Red Bull Salzburg or Eintracht Frankfurt (1-4) (Playing tomorrow)

    Inter Milan

    Manchester United

    Olympiacos

    Getafe

    Sevilla

Well they can’t complain because they’ve been knocked out by the weakest team there. A team who are 9 points behind a team we beat 7-3 way back in the 3rd qualifying round of this competition.

They blew it. They're a better side than Copenhagen. They got possibly the weakest side left in the competition and blew it.

  10. Update on the potential opposition.

    Copenhagen

    Nah, just seems like it.

This is a Braga v Rangers thread

    Europa League

    Not Scottish Football

    Aberdeen aren't in Europe

    Rangers are

    Rangers beat solid European opposition

    This is "Rangers Chat" thread

    Aberdeen didn't play tonight

Aberdeen didn't play in Europe tonight

Aberdeen haven't played in Europeall season (I am sure you will correct me, which is fine because I couldn't tell you who they last played in Europe or when)

You reference Aberdeen in numerous threads where they aren't worth mentioning - this being, quite possibly, the most pertinent given we have just beaten a solid Portuguese team (Aberdeen aren't Portuguese) in the Europa League (Aberdeen aren't in the Europa League) to qualify for the last 16 of said competition (Aberdeen STILL aren't in said competition)…

If it weren't for the above I would be suspecting you have an unhealthy obsession with Aberdeen - though I have no doubts over your Rangers supporting credentials

That's simply the way football chat is. I was responding to this.

    Just the Irish part ...

This is a Rangers thread, that comment wasn't referencing Rangers, obviously referencing the yahoos and their ilk. The yahoos didn't play tonight. You have an issue with that too? Or just sheep mention?

    “Fans were also fantastic...”

I have to question that Frankie, sorry.

on the whole maybe, and fine voice absolutely.  But burying the vocal and whole-hearted support behind the whole shouldn’t excuse the “minority” from their actions tonight.

we will be incredibly lucky if we don’t see, at the very least, a partial stadium closure, and by that I mean one whole stand, for the next game.

so that “fantastic support” might have caused us to lose £35x10,0000 (or fairly close) - so £350,000 in ticket revenue (assuming nothing a full stadium closure).

its fucking ridiculous when they all know that everyone has eyes on us.

dislike it or not, think it’s unfair or not, but how many times do we need to shoot ourselves in the foot ??

and to say “the fans were fantastic” without the caveat disappoints me as a Gersnet member.  We should be better, we should be leading from the front.

Delighted as I am tonight, I fear we’re going to get pummelled for the useless add-one.

That support could have provided the same level of support tonight without the ads-one.

The defiance is costing the club.  And that, to me, calls into question what is more important to these folks.

We could be talking over a million if this were to result in a full stadium closure and i'm sick of it. And sick of those who would defend these clowns.
