  1. That was a strange game, more possession, more shots and on target, more corners than Utd and we still lose 4-0. Frank needs Kante on from the start and Pulisic as well as Hudson Odoi, Rudiger and Willian fit. I still think that with a full squad that Chelsea will be in the shout for 4th with Utd and Arsenal. Any takers??????

The Leaderboard? It's based on the number of 'reactions' that your posts receive.

    Most pay no attention.

Oh--do you mean the 'youth team', 'first team squad' etc. rank, for posters? It's based on the number of posts. I have no idea what you need for each rank, though.

Thanks, yes, the Youth team etc, i've noticed some people with youth team with hundreds of likes and circa 3k posts, just wondered if they were arbitrarily awarded !! I'm not even sre what "S" form means :)

Derby will perhaps be the most interesting test to date. Top Championship side who narrowly missed out on promotion and who will presumably be somewhat further ahead in their preparation than Blackburn were.

Yes Derby were a good ball playing possession side under Lampard and there's no reason to suspect they will be changing styles under Cocu. Will be a good test.

How have you been up all night working that out? West Ham are spending bit in the transfer market. I think its Arsenal who are Poundland at the moment.

Chelsea are relegated from Next to Gap.

Fair shout, but wouldn't call Next to Gap a relegation - maybe standing still for a mo. £ for £ I think Chelsea have still outspent West ham with £60m Pulisic coming in, plus 4 of the loan players back in the 1st team squad being valued at over £100m, Batshuayi, Van Ginkel, Bakayoko, and Zuma, plus the signing of Kovacic from Real. West Ham won't trouble the top 6 IMHO.

If you put the EPL into a 'High Street' in London.

    Man City would be Harrods

Newcastle Utd. would literally be a Sports Direct store, cheap tat but with a decent customer base.

Love the analogy. In that vein who would Chelsea be?  I'm having Tottenham as CurrysPCWorld - Quality white goods, but always fuck up the delivery and West Ham as Poundland.

Looking at the various proposals, one thing is becoming clear.  We are capable of fielding a pretty decent team for the first time in nearly a decade.

I agree, I look at this side and it matches up well against the other lot across town. It's just the reliance on Defoe that worries me. I would bring in another forward to lead the line with Defoe as back up.

Maybe a tad early to start the predictions but 4 weeks is super fast these days and then the most entertaining league in the world starts again - (noted entertaining and not best nor competitive). This can be the thread where me, Scott, Compo and Buster (with a few others) make a bum of ourselves with terrible weekly predictions.

Until the transfer window shuts its hard to judge where teams will be. However as it stands I think we could have a shift in the top 6. For me - at the moment Arsenal would drop out the top 8. Their away form is relegation form and they are only weaker to date. I see a horrendous defensive and no creative midfield and therefore Leicester, West Ham, Everton and Wolves are all better on paper and would go above Arsenal.

Man Utd are really interesting from a neutral perspective right now. I keep actually expecting them to turn a corner but they still have issues. Pogba is obviously a bad apple and Ive never seen the fascination of him as a player either, he couldnt lace Hazard, De Bruyne or David Silvas boots. But management wise they still havent got it right. OGS failed at Cardiff and has only had Molde. His honey moon period went away and they looked awful again. The only good thing for Man U is compared to Arsenal they actually do have players on paper who can win things. Rashford, Martial, Lingard, Mata, Sanchez on their day is a frightening 5.

If I was a betting man - As it stands id go.

    Man City

    Liverpool

    Tottenham

    Chelsea

    Man Utd

    Leicester

    Wolves

    Everton

    Arsenal

    West Ham

    Watford

    Southampton

    Bournemouth

    Crystal Palace

    Norwich

    Burnley

    Aston Villa

    Newcastle

    Brighton

    Sheff Utd

    I'd be happy with that!!!

If the two window transfer ban is confirmed after appeal I don't see them making the top 4 next season. You can't lose a player like Eden Hazard so integral to that team while not replacing him without slipping back some. I imagine they must appreciate that and will accordingly give Lampard some leeway.

As will the fans for his legend status alone and in fact perhaps that's one reason he was hired.

The top 2 spots will again go to City and Liverpool while the 3rd and 4th will be up for grabs among a handful or so.

Yes will be different without Hazard, but then again there were many games where he just didnt turn up. When up for it he was in the top bracket in Europe, but sadly that happened less and less. Christian Pullisic is not like for like but at £60m Chelsea are paying for his potential and with Kante in his proper position - that will save us a fair few points that we squandered last year as teams waltzed past Jorginho!! I think we will still be on a par with Arsenal and Utd and it will again be those 3 fighting for 4th place, though unless Spurs sign some players they will be in the mix also.

A good win for Chelsea in a final played in an athletics stadium fans paying a fortune to be miles away from the action good game poor stadium.

I thought the Olympic Stadium was far from the action but that last night took the piss.

Arsenal’s defence is better than it was but still poor.

It’s ok, though. Aubameyang and Lacazette will out gun Chelsea.

We'll see, Think Giroud, Hazaed and Willian will be doing some gunning at the other end !!! :slinger:

  11. Not all great players are suited to the top job and Super Ally may be one, just look at Zola, Shearer and Roy Keane and many others over the years inc Geoff Hurst and Danny Blanchflower both at Chelsea!! I think Ole Gunner Solskaer will shortly join this group.

  12. Definite positive steps this year and with the right players coming in I cannot see why we can't get more improvement next season.

If not in Sarri's immediate plans next year, I'd love Gerrard to get Abraham on loan if Villa don't go up, also maybe Mason Mount if Derby miss out. I have said that I'd give Kent another season as I believe there is more to come, but that garnered some mixed responses !!

Hope some funds are made available to just improve each area just a bit in order to push those stats higher next year.

What was Chelsea thinking last week playing a friendly in the US and now Loftus Cheek is out for 6 months.

I know, it's just one more sign of the current malaise in the organisation of the club.
