Brilliant player. Up there with Numan for me as far as left backs in my lifetime, maybe not quite that good. His link up with Laudrup was brilliant at times

Right now I’d rather have a Davie Robertson than a Numan. Having said that, with today’s refs he’d probably get sent off every game these days, or be cited by Sportscene every week. Just a pity we never signed Numan the season before, (97-98) it’s fair to say Stale Stensaas wasn’t anywhere near the level of those two!!

  2. Watched the excellent documentary on the above mentioned on BBC iPlayer last night after the Scotland game. Seeing old clips of DR for us & Aberdeen got me thinking. Is he the most under rated player ever to sign for us?

Looking back he was as hard as nails, yet in a team with Gough, Brown, Goram, Hateley, Ferguson etc you never really noticed. He was also quick and skilful, and a goal threat going forward. Hardly missed a game at LB between 91 & 97, a position that had been a problem before. Won the league every season in his 6 at the club. Yet for some reason he hardly got any Scotland caps..

But what got me thinking, was that people blamed Marco Negri, Gazza etc for us not winning the 10. Looking back, was it the decision to let Robertson go to Leeds in 97 that cost us 9 in a row??

  3. Hard to see McLeish staying on now. As much as we don’t have great players, that was a decent enough midfield & centre halves. To get a doing off of that poor a team in what was a must win game is appalling, and makes you wonder how McLeish - a legendary manager in his day - got the job in the first place. I suppose he won his Europa league group, but I think that has backfired as maybe his team fancy qualifying through the back door now - a very Scottish mentality. Can’t help that the SFA have made it impossible for him to pick Rangers players though - McGregor, Jack & even Andy Halliday would have walked into that team. Memo to Stevie G - Halliday is a better left back than Shinnie..

  4. I must be missing this Shinnie who plays left back. Is that his brother? The Aberdeen Shinnie is a combative central midfielder, somebody who might not let opponents bully and take the push the way our current midfielders do. We need leaders. I would take Shinnie, McKenna & Ferguson from the sheep. The fact Shinnie hasn’t announced who he’s signing for yet, only fuels rumours he has agreed a pre contract with us. But we’ll see.

  5. Baxter & Law’s generation didn’t ‘underachieve’ it was just harder back then. Only 16 teams qualified for the World Cup, only 4 for European Championship, no chances to run up caps & goals against yer Kazakhstan’s & San Marino as they weren’t even countries in those days..

I have no interest in these games as I don’t have Sky anymore & wont go out my way to watch them. Sad that Scotland have no top class players any more, even more worrying that no Rangers player is considered good enough for the squad. Neither side will achieve success until there are 3 or 4 regulars in both teams, in my view.

  6. I never watch Celtic’s league games, but they have been scoring last minute winners since I was a kid (87-88 season). The worry for me is that Rangers don’t seem to do so as often. There is a big flaw in our team with regards to character & leadership, as we take ages to respond to conceding a goal at any stage of a match.

  7. Here’s one radical idea - maybe if sky sports news etc didn’t replay these assaults 100 times an hour, the idiots would be less inclined to go on? The mentality of these plonkers is that 6 months in jail is worth it to get a reputation as being mental in front of their pals. No coincidence that it happens at televised games, imo.

  8. McInnes has completely worked out Gerrard’s game plan. Sideways passing with no goal threat from midfield. No character or leadership in the team, continually fall apart after conceding a goal. Waiting for Conor Goldson to make a pass is like watching Cliff Thorburn lining up a shot at the snooker. Ironically what we are crying out for is a player like Steven Gerrard, an on pitch leader who never gives up & scores 20 goals a season from midfield..

In this day and age it’s a free kick but I can’t get very upset about this because it should have been irrelevant. Also the ref was actually quite consistent in not giving these kind of fouls when the player goes down easily.

Hibs got away with murder, however Scott Arfield is more to blame for me. Why the hell is he laying off the ball when he’s facing the goal ? from 8 yards out, to a player on the edge of the box, at the end of the 1st half? Because, like Ryan Kent, he gets into all the right positions but just can’t finish. These 2 need replaced ASAP

It's really not we've nearly always borrowed at this time of year it used to be Ticketus which was repaid before it had to appear in the accounts.

I'm not sure why the charge was previously released if the intention was to use it again seems a waste of form filling.

Maybe something to do with interest rates? If I pay back my credit card every month, I pay zero interest. I’d be concerned if it wasn’t paid back..

  11. It’s not just about certain words anyway. Recently I have heard sick chants about Tommy Burns, and Scott Brown’s sister, both of whom died of cancer. Beyond belief, especially considering some or all of those doing these chants must have lost family members to the same disease. But it’s all about trying to shock. And in this day and age, with cameras & recording devices literally everywhere & the media taking a perverse interest in this sort of behaviour (which happens at every club) then its probably time for it to stop.

  12. Dornan is discussing this on Twitter tonight, though laughably claiming it supports his case for ‘strict liability’ even tims pointing out how absurd this is, as once again he is using something that did not happen in a football ground to support banning people from football grounds for this behaviour! I am coming round to the view that rather than just being a bitter tim, he really is just incredibly stupid. Him and Mason are the Beavis & Butt-head of the SNP. It’s frightening to think that our elected representatives are this thick, but sadly not surprising..
