Kieran Prior - 'Dismay And Horror'- Boardroom Shake-Up

RANGERS investor Kieran Prior has reacted with â??dismay and horrorâ? to the latest shake up in the Ibrox boardroom. Bus company boss James Easdale was appointed a non-executive director yesterday. And that came just hours after former chairman Malcolm Murray and Phil Cartmell, his fellow non-executive director, left the board. Former City of London whizzkid Prior, who purchased 1.2 per cent of the club in a £400,000 deal last month, fears Murray resigned his position. Former Goldman Sachs trader Prior is also deeply concerned at the departure of Cartmell, the placeman of brokers Cenkos, who have now been replaced by â??boutique investment bankâ? Strand Hanson. Prior said: â??My reaction to the latest boardroom announcements are twofold â?? dismay and horror. â??Rangers have changed their broker of choice from Cenkos, an established and respected firm, to one which I have never heard of. â??Unassuming fans might think it a non-event but the presence of Cenkos would have assured investors both present and future. â??This is the brokerage that brought Rangers to market last year and provides us with a heritage and access to capital markets. â??I only hope Strand Hanson are not yes men. Charles Green has a lock-in period on his shares of two years. I would trust the new brokers would not move from that. â??James Easdale and his brother Sandy have a reported six per cent stake in Rangers, which I would dispute. â??Iâ??m sure James is successful in terms of logistics and transport but I donâ??t see how someone with such a small percentage of shares should be rushed on to the board. â??Why not wait until the agm at the end of August? My fear is certain parties are trying to stack the deck in their favour ahead of the agm.â? Prior bought his stake in the club with a view to â??looking under the bonnetâ?. He said: â??This has more twists and turns than a Dan Brown novel but Iâ??ll continue to ask questions and be a pain in the a***.â? Meanwhile, Gers keeper Cammy Bell has survived a major injury scare in the final training session of the Highland Tour. The summer signing from Kilmarnock suffered a knee injury during training but was cleared after treatment. Rangers are also hoping to extend Bilel Mohsniâ??s trial and include him in Saturdayâ??s friendly at Bristol City. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rangers-investors-dismay-horror-over-2041630

What did they expect, the EPL have been doing their bidding for years.
-
The likes of Stoney, Murdoch, Walsh and McKay, with the size of squad we have these lads will be lucky to be on the Bench this season. We have no Reserve League, so it will be under 20s who don't play every week as far as I can see. This period in their development is crucial, so what do we do with them?
-
Like Baxter their own worst enemies.
-
The BBC should be supportive, Easdale and Speccy have a special relationship.
-
In the end when decisions are made that is what it comes down to, yea or nay.
-
Is it only Easdale so far ?
-
I noticed about BT Sport before but ignored it. What do you need to have?
-
What will Walter Smith do now ?
-
Rangers men ???? Who and Where?
-
No wonder there are divisions, calm down it's no a Cup Final.
-
We have no choice but to watch, too many divisions in the Support. I'm not sure the majority of the Support are bothered one way or the other to be truthful, as long as they can watch Rangers play football. My opinion is that anyone who is happy with Easdale on board, hasn't the good of Rangers at heart.
-
That will be Easdale on the Board ?? Phil MacGobble getting information from someone.

LEE McCulloch has experienced the trials and tribulations of life at Rangers for the past 17 months with barely a word of complaint. But the Rangers captain would welcome some respite all the same from the problems that have beset the club since it was placed in administration in February last year. So, it is with a sense of relief that McCulloch is eagerly anticipating the start of the new season, in the belief that Rangers may at last be emerging from the clouds of uncertainty that have cast a menacing shadow over Ibrox. McCulloch has seen evidence on the playing side at least that there is genuine hope for a much brighter future. He bases his optimism on the camaraderie he has witnessed since the squad returned for pre-season training with several new members in its ranks and the atmosphere at their camp in the Highlands. â??Thereâ??s a totally different feel to this time last year and, after winning the league last season, I think weâ??ve got to put the past behind us,â? McCulloch said. â??We can just look forward to the season ahead and getting off to a good start and becoming champions again convincingly. â??Weâ??ve come back to hard work in pre-season training and that can only be good for us. Now weâ??ve got six games left of pre-season so thereâ??s plenty of time to set ourselves up for the first match and the new boys have fitted into the squad really well. I think the new faces have given everyone a lift, which is something we havenâ??t had for a while. â??Everyone has been getting on really well. We are staying in apartments, three or four of us in each one, and thatâ??s helping foster team spirit.â? Rangers fielded no fewer than 21 players in their opening pre-season match against Brora Rangers on Sunday when two second-half goals by Lewis MacLeod determined the outcome. And McCulloch realises that the increased competition for places will almost certainly also make life harder for him at the age of 35. â??I donâ??t think anyone is guaranteed a place and certainly not me,â? he said. â??Iâ??ll be expected to fight for my place like the rest and Iâ??ll need to prove myself worthy of a start. â??Iâ??m no different to anyone else, because weâ??ve got a really big squad now and it will be about trying to hold on to your place, if you get one.â? The arrival of Cammy Bell from Kilmarnock, Richard Foster from Bristol City, Steven Smith from Portland Timbers, Nicky Law from Motherwell, Nicky Clark from Queen of the South and Jon Daly from Dundee United has enriched manager Ally McCoistâ??s squad. With so many options, McCoist will mull over the various possible permutations, in particular in attack and who leads the line alongside Daly. McCulloch has no doubt that he can form a profitable partnership with Daly, but he is reluctant to put pressure on the manger, given that Clarke and Andrew Little are also vying for places in attack. He added: â??Itâ??s not my call, thatâ??s up to the manager and what he wants to do, but I think we could play together as we are similar types. But Iâ??ll play anywhere, up front or centre-half, wherever Iâ??m asked, and give it my best shot.â? Rangers have been dealt a blow with the news that Ross Perry is set to miss the start of the new season. The defender suffered ankle ligament damage during the Brora game and is expected to be sidelined for several weeks. Perry was thrown into the action as a substitute at half-time but came off worse in a collision with Ryan Watson and left the pitch on a stretcher. According to the clubâ??s website, the 23-year-old has been ruled out for â??the foreseeable futureâ?. http://www.scotsman.com/the-scotsman/sport/football/rangers-lee-mcculloch-says-future-looks-bright-1-2993992#.Udu9Vi_k3fY.twitter

The Board of Rangers International Football Club plc has announced non-executive directors Malcolm Murray and Phil Cartmell have left the board. Walter Smith, Chairman of Rangers, said: "Both Malcolm and Phil have made important and valuable contributions to the Club. The last year has presented the Club with a number of challenges and it has been beneficial to have two highly experienced non-executive directors such as Malcolm and Phil offering assistance. "On behalf of the board I would like to thank them for their considerable efforts in helping to rebuild Rangers. Both men have other significant business interests and we wish them well in their future endeavours." http://www.rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/item/4419-directorate-changes

Perhaps a stoopid question. Why would Cenkos give up an annual retainer, for doing very little ? All because of Easdale ?
-
Your probably right, the only ones that could have changed things were too busy argueing among themselves, the fans.
-
Hope you and your lad enjoy it.
-
In an ideal world I wouldn't want King as owner of Rangers. All we can do whether it's Whyte, King or McColl is see how they deal with the position as owner of Rangers, we then call it as we see it.
-
I think those at the Club with our best interests at heart probably know these things, but what can they do, not a lot.
-
We were warned about Whyte, but most refused to believe the warnings. FFS a judge called him a liar yet was ignored. We want to believe everything at Ibrox is rosy, and woe betide anybody who says otherwise.
