  1. It HAS to go to the highest bidder. Some of the rumoured figures seem to me like the board have done a good deal here.
  2. Regardless if we make Europe or not (I assume we will) the players will be lucky to get two weeks off like last season. I just hope we have a manager in place before the head off their holidays.
  3. I notice this morning Graham Potter is second favourite at 9/2 with SkyBet. Personally I don't think our board would take a gamble on a guy like him, certainly went to Sweden and been successful and also has Billy Reid as his assistant there. Saw the story about Frank de Boer too, it still worries me that we don't seem to be any further forward to appointing a new manager than we were when Caixinha was sacked.
  4. Yeah Alex Neil being mentioned now. Not sure about him at all. Read some arcticles and he is highly thought of but could he handle the pressure at Ibrox.
  5. New kit deal has to go with the highest bidder. Folk getting their knickers in a twist because it isn’t a Nike or Adidas need to have a reality check. Hopefully whatever deal we get helps to pay for a top manager.
  6. See to be honest you have got my point spot on. While it would be a massive gamble for us, we are happy to allow English clubs to take a chance on our coaches then if they become successful we can’t afford them. We even do the same with players. McArthur being a good example. Even Rodgers was a punt from someone at some point in time.
  7. Perhaps. Four league titles in Holland sways it towards Frank for me but as I have said elsewhere I don’t think our board have the will to bring in a box office style manager.
  8. Genuine question and not meant as a dig but would Micheal Laudrup even be mention if he wasn’t Brians brother? Could you imagine if our board employed another manager from Qatar?
  9. Of course still not to say we won’t be able to move them or most of them on. We even managed to punt Kiernan last season!
  10. Yeah I get that mate. Time will tell, whoever gets the job I will give him my backing.
  11. One name that did jump out - at the very bottom of the list - was André Villas-Boas. I wasn’t aware he was out of work but someone like that could unite the fans.
  12. I genuinely don’t think our squad is that bad. Sure they need a mighty kick up the arse and a few need moved on but if you were to conclude that Miller & Wallace won’t kick a ball for us again, Niko is off the wage bill and say Pena, Hererra, Cardoso, O’Hallaron, Dodoo, Halliday, Alves, Forrester and Hodson are surplus and will most likely move on at the end of the season that would pay for a £2m a year coach - and that is before any new kit deals & share issues. That team that wiped the floor with us on Sunday only two players were signed by Rodgers who started the game. That is the impact we need from a new manager.
  13. A few crackers on that list also include: Glenn Hoddle Mick McCarthey Billy Davis Barry Ferguson Robbie Neilson Hope those names have given you more hope :-)
  14. HAHA true but my point still stands.
  15. As mentioned above Killie seem to be happy to defend and counter attack. I am not sure how our fans would react to watching that kind of football. I know the during the ‘Road to Manchester’ we played in that style but it really was honking to watch at times.
  16. All of them except de Boer give me the absolute fear.
  17. According to SkyBet the top 5 are: Frank de Boer Steve Clarke Alan Pardew Greame Murty Alex Neil
  18. While I hate to say it, short term you are right. He is the only one who would get an instant reaction & instant respect from the players. Him with Ross Jack under him being groomed....? LOL
  19. Totally agree mate. Plus your top name manager - I will use de Boer again only as an example - who is most likely a millionaire, has their pick of being a pundit each week to keep his face out there may look at the Rangers job and ask themselves “do I really need the hassle?”
  20. My fear is no matter who takes over if we drop any points before we play Celtic - and possibly lose that too - then we are back to square one. I also understand the feeling that we need a hardline, old school style manager to give these players a much needed kick up the arse - most likely why names like Warnock are even being talked about. Sadly football isn’t like that anymore (rightly or wrongly), just look at the EPL at the moment your three main teams are managed by ‘modern’ coaches like Jose, Pep and Klopp. Pep was thrown into the Barca hotseat after one season with Barca B. While I ain’t for one minute suggesting that Jack Ross is the next Pep, I am suggesting that we need to see the bigger picture of where football is right now. Players are pampered, spoiled rich kids and they will throw their toys out the pram at the first sign of bother. We need to be clever with our next appointment. I still would fancy a Frank de Boer as a name, he has had some success with Ajax and hopefully has something to prove after spells at Inter and Palace but if he didn’t hit the ground running you know the fans will turn. Another expensive mistake.
  21. BTW I accept all the comments saying why he shouldn’t be considered. Just putting his name out there for debate. I don’t think he will be considered by the board but I would much rather him than some of the names being thrown around like Alex Neil, Alan Pardew or even Glenn Hoddle who is being mentioned by the bookies.
  22. As far as I have made out he plays quite an attacking style which has been successful in the Championship. Watched an interview with him where he kept his attacking style against Aberdeen in the cup and says his players deserved the right to have a go. In the same interview he admits he may have to change that going into the Premiership next season.
  23. Would anyone be against us making an appointment like Jack Ross? I would say he is the brighest young manager in the country, was approached by Barnsley earlier this season in the English Championship so eyes down south are noting what he is doing with St Mirren. I understand it is a gamble but is he anymore of a gamble than a Frank de Boer? Before I am shot down in flames just remember Norwich took Alex Neil from Hamilton and a year later he took them to the EPL.
  24. Not buisness minded at all, but I assume nothing will change on the grand scale of things? Park left the board due to ill health, now he is back in (albiet with another title) so I don’t have an issue with at all considering how much he has invested in us. Hopefully him being Deputy Chairman makes the rubber-stamping of big decisions alot easier with King being out the country? Like a new manager perhaps?
