  1. I actually thought that last night, defensively, we didn't look too bad for a change. I don't remember Aberdeen really causing many problems on the attack and the saves Alnwick made were all fairly comfortable (and the crossbar helped as well). I know that could be down to Aberdeen being sh*te as well though.

Now we have  a new manager in place what about trying to get the inky fingers on board as well all this negative press we generate and the reporters  generate is not good for the fans or the players  it could  be helpful in the long run,  lets remove the other mob from the back pages that would be a victory of sorts we cant go through life with all this hatred and mistrust  of  each other lets use them for all the positive things at the club  , this is  only the thoughts of an old fan .

We've removed them from most of the front/back pages already this week, which must kill them, given they've just won the league! :D

  3. I don't think anyone is being asked to take the day off work to go and welcome Stevie, party hat on head, streamers in hand. And understandably a lot of folk are nervous about the appointment. But it now looks like he is definitely going to be our new manager, so we all need to get behind him and give him our support - because without it he WILL fail.

And it is excellent listening to all the Mick's going into meltdown about this. I'm sitting in work at this moment, listening to a bunch of them talking about Gerrard/Rangers just now, rather than about their own club and achievements and it's obvious that they are sh*tting themselves.

Speaking of Billy Gilmour....  The lad must be doing really well down south because, at just 16 yrs old, he has been selected for the Scotland U21's for the Toulon tournament this summer.

Rangers players selected are : Robby McCrorie, Ross McCrorie, Liam Burt and Glenn Middleton.  We have the highest number of representatives

Which must be further evidence that, despite all the other issues that might be plaguing the club just now, the youth setup isn't part of the problem.

Yes but they missed the biggest trick. We didn't die and they know we are on their tails. The one thing you get when you know you are in an unwarranted pole position. A sore neck watching behind you.

Unwarranted is a great word for it. If you watch them against any other team in the league, they're decent, but hardly world class. When they play us though, they go all out to embarass us. Rodgers had a cheek to accuse any other team of only upping their game in the big matches. Hamilton held them to 1-1 for most of a half FFS, before they managed a winner.

Still silence with no confirmation or denial on the Rangers site despite the mhedia statements---------annoying.

It is frustrating, but I'd rather they took their time with an anouncement, than put out a half-arsed one, like they have been recently.

The anouncement linked above isn't too bad actually. At least it seems to suggest that Murty will be given the option of his old job back, so at least he won't be completely cut adrift.

Whether he accepts it or not though...

    Don't kid yourself.

They simply get more out of watching us suffer then anything to do with their own club.

The irony being that being utterly transfixed with what is happening at what they say is a new club is the biggest contradiction I've ever known within Scottish fitbaw.

    It's All About The Rangers.

  8. The u17's team scudded Celtic 3-0 in the Glasgow Cup, so I guess we can rule out the youth system as the root of any problems at the club.

Maybe we should promote the full u17's to the senior squad for the rest of the season?

The element of surprise is huge in football and a change in formation can work a treat. Celtic will be preparing to play us in 4-2-3-1 and will be very comfortable with how they plan to play against it.

You want the element of surprise - start O'Halloran instead of Windass.

I actually half-wonder if Murty was giving us a hint that he might start him, by bringing him on as a sub last Sunday. I think he'd give us the same pace and penetration that Windass does (on a good day), but be less of a passenger.

Think the whole coach manager debate would probably be used to explain the drop. Personally do think we used to massively over pay, but if we keep looking for managers in the richest league set up in the world then at our budget we will not often find unearthed diamonds. Same wage further afield brings more and in my opinion better options. But too many are stuck on this nonsense about needing to know our ways and British etc it's why I say we are xenophobic. We should look at other nations and learn instead we want them to change to ways and styles that no longer bring success

Broadly agree with you - don't know if I agree that we're xenophobic though. I think the issue is, we can bring all the foreign coaches/managers in we want and change our own style, but we can't change the way other teams play. If every other team parks the bus, no amount of fancy footwork will make a difference.

It's upto half a mil. Not sure of incentives etc thought that was known tbh.

McCoist was on £825k back in the days when we were completely skint (before he took a wage cut). We're not exactly rolling in cash these days, but I'd like to think we're doing better than we were 3-4 years ago.

If we're offering less for a manager now, the club either needs to pony up for a decent calibre of manager, or we all need to lower our expectations of who we can afford to bring in.
