Brainwashed by the press....again

Recommended Posts

Questions needing answers.

Why did Burly sanction a session at 5 a.m.?

What is to happen to the other 5 participants ?

What is to happen to Burly for condoning such a scenario considering its possible outcome ?

Who first reported the hotel incident and who did they report it to ? ( I suspect the press were heavily involved especially as it is their job to stake out teams' hotels )

and Why did BF put himself in such a vulnerable situation.

The press are now predictably printing thousands of column inches on the whole situation based on two facts. Being, drinking until 11am, and, making hand gestures at someone.

This accounts for about 1% of what there are printing. The rest is conjecture, guesswork, hypotheticals and downright lies.

Why are we being sucked into such a pathetic state of shock over a pathetic set of circumstances because of such a fantastic work of fiction ?

The most important thing to me is the conduct of the Rangers players, and the bottom line is that their conduct was unacceptable.

Anything else, including the press and Burley is of secondary concern.

I'm also not sure what is fiction. It is fact that the players were up to 11am drinking, and were drunk. It is fact that they made gestures on the bench.

I know that's the way it is nowadays, but how can someone be offended by hand gestures ? Come on ! Was it verbally or physically abusing an individual, did they openly threaten officials or even swear at them ? What would the punishment be for this, firing squad ?

What happened when lennon made obscene gestures at Ibrox whilst spitting on a Rangers scarf ? He was actually on the pitch when this happened. Then, everyone new who they were directed at.

At Hampden, while seated, the numpty 2 made their comments towards the press. WHO decided they were aimed at the support ?

The press did.

The pair did something stupid and the press capitalised.....big time.

The Scottish hacks are feeling left out as all the action is happening down South.

You would be forgiven to think there was the most important G20 meeting of recent times going on, a close second to the Numpty 2 flicking the vicks at some anonymous person.

If that kind of behaviour is considered worth a sacking on here, surely all the people who give abuse to our players and manager on here should be getting a life ban?

What's worse, sticking your twos up to nobody in particular or telling Walter to "Fuck off"?

I seem to recall the great Beckham giving the one finger to English fans after the Portugal semi-final. no punishment there. We in Scotland seem to specialise in making dramas out of crises. Problem was Walter gave a dressing down to both players before Wednesday night - told them to show the manager respect - and they still made arses of themselves.

Does the crime warrant a 2 week suspension and a stripping of the captaincy? Yes.

Does it warrant a transfer listing from the club or a ban from scotland. No. However the former hasn't happened yet as far as I'm aware, and the latter isn't Rangers related, and is a whole different subject.

To be fair to beckham he was receiving death threats and had idiots shouting at him wishing horrible things happening to his family.

As we write it seems - according to the Sunday Mail - that McGregor may be given an Ibrox 'lifeline.' If so, fine. Think he would have had more than enough punishment. As for Barry, he's burned his boats, I'm afraid. I'm not one of his haters - would have loved to see him make the Hall of Fame, but he's just not cut the mustard as a player for some time now.

Sadly (and I look at this from both Rangers and Scotland perspectives) there is no way back for them for Scotland while Burley is in charge; his authority would be irreparably diminished if that were to happen, and I think we would have to wait for someone like Souness to take over. He would insist on the slate being wiped clean.
