PAUL LE GUEN has confirmed that Chris Burke will miss this weekend's SPL match with Kilmarnock but expressed relief that the winger's ankle injury is not as serious as first feared.

Chris Burke in action against HeartsBurke picked up the knock following a robust challenge from former team-mate Fernando Ricksen during Wednesday night's friendly match with Zenit St Petersburg and had to be taken off just four minutes after appearing as a substitute.

That sparked fears that Burke may have suffered a repeat of the injury sustained during the club's pre-season tour of South Africa that kept him out for a month but Le Guen today revealed the injury was not as debilitating this time around.

He said: "The injury is not as serious as it was in South Africa. He will miss the next game but after that we can be hopeful.

"I'm disappointed as he will miss the next game as he is an important player for us.

"I was afraid after the Zenit game but it's good news that he seems ok."

I knew it was ajust a silly mistimed tackle, didnt think he would be out for any longer than 1-2 matches. the way some people wen ton abotu it, you would have thought ricksen just put wee burke out for months.

Good news though

The fact Burke is out for only one game doesn't negate the actions of Ricksen (but I had a suspicion it would be used as some form of defence for Ricksen) !!

Of course i'm going to defend the guy because all he did was stick a leg out and burke fell to the ground in agony, but the way it's been said on here is that ricksen shot burke at point blank range.

Then again the media said that ricksen lunged at him, what game where they watching ?

The media are more likely just stirring things up, i saw it on tv and it was no lunge...some people actually think ricksen went out to injure him. I dont think so
