craig 5,199 Posted August 25, 2006 Share Posted August 25, 2006 From the official site PAUL LE GUEN has confirmed that Chris Burke will miss this weekend's SPL match with Kilmarnock but expressed relief that the winger's ankle injury is not as serious as first feared. Chris Burke in action against HeartsBurke picked up the knock following a robust challenge from former team-mate Fernando Ricksen during Wednesday night's friendly match with Zenit St Petersburg and had to be taken off just four minutes after appearing as a substitute. That sparked fears that Burke may have suffered a repeat of the injury sustained during the club's pre-season tour of South Africa that kept him out for a month but Le Guen today revealed the injury was not as debilitating this time around. He said: "The injury is not as serious as it was in South Africa. He will miss the next game but after that we can be hopeful. "I'm disappointed as he will miss the next game as he is an important player for us. Of course i'm going to defend the guy because all he did was stick a leg out and burke fell to the ground in agony, but the way it's been said on here is that ricksen shot burke at point blank range.
