It matters not that Lafferty wants to score goals for Rangers - what DOES matter is that he barely HAS done.

And that robot dance was so typical of Lafferty - he had been playing gash for ages, scores a goal and acts all billy big baws - it is one of the reasons some of our fans havent, and never will, take to him. Rightly or wrongly - and he brings much of it on himself.

Time for him to prove his worth rather than act like he has.

What did Kenny Miller contribute other than 21 goals last season? Loads

That's why i'll always rate someone like Miller/Prso/Cousin/Darcheville/Novo/Arveladze (good technical ability but very unlikely to score over 20 a season) above someone like Boyd/Velicka/Bo Andersen/Flo (will score plenty but can't hold the ball up and can barely run)

You need a balance though. There's no point creating chance after chance with noone to put them away - equaly there's no use having a master poacher if noone gives him the ball in front of goal. Also, there is alot to be said for players accepting their limitations and doing what they're good at. Hemdani was spoken about a while ago on another thread and that was why he got player of the year. Didn't try and do what he couldn't, did his job effectively. But really, we're banging on about Boyd again, he's gone, let's move on.

Maybe that's whay England were a raging embarassment at the World Cup? Bit of an own goal with that argument! :D

I'm not saying it was the right decision but it's commonplace the world over for forwards with good technical ability to be selected ahead of prolific goalscorers with poor technical ability

And maybe that's why the standard of football everywhere is that much poorer these days than it once was. Take a striker who struggles to score, he's on a big wage so we play him, make him a winger. the demise of the winger + the growth of 'complete forward' = the death of entertainment
