As rbr mentioned in the first post, we're still in 4 competitions. That's good going considering our squad size and the fact that Jelavic has missed half the season. I'm not confident that we can progress far in the Europa League, but I'm not sure if a bunch of European games would be good for us anyway with such a small squad. We still have a great chance of winning the SPL as things stand, we're in the League Cup final and we can still progress in the Scottish Cup if we win our replay at the piggery. All in all there's still a fair chance that we can win silverware this season.

Exactly. Right now we're pretty much even Steven with Celtic, who wins depends on how well the teams play on the day. Some people seem to think we should be able to beat Celtic as easily as the likes of Kilmarnock or Motherwell, it's not normally going to happen.

They pretty much have the advantage in squad size and freshness, and we've handicapped ourselves by effectively cutting a right arm off in the sale of Miller. Until a takeover happens and the constraints of the bank are lifted (but while keeping us financially prudent), we're going to be the underdogs. In my opinion what keeps us even competing is we have a better manager than them.

Too many of our players sound tired and jaded but we have not many replacements we can bring in that will immediately be a success. The management may be rightly criticised by not being able to motivate these players, but when you've been doing so for three years non-stop with many of the same player, keeping the team punching above its weight, the effect is surely going to start to wear off. That's where "fresh challenge" comes into the vocabulary.

The whole squad needs freshened but we're restricted from doing so with enough quality players and it's maybe time some players moved on.

This season was Davis's chance to fulfil his promise and Lafferty's to come good. Miller stepped up to the mark to surpass the mantle laid down by Boyd but then left us in the lurch. Weir seems like he's having one season too far and Papac is on a downhill slide after last season's high. Whittaker continues to infuriate with flashes of brilliance followed by incompetence and we miss the steady Broadfoot to give him competition or just replace him.

Bougherra probably thought he was leaving and is probably mulling over why he is less admired in the EPL than he thought and so his performances have been sporadic and of a nature to ensure a longer stay in Scotland.

Edu still hasn't quite matured into a steady player who gives a great shift every game. Weiss has been entertaining but often flatters to deceive and like most flair players his final product is wanting and he falls out of games.

The bright lights have been MacGregor, Naismith (although his finishing and final ball could be better) and Jelavic and when you look at it, a misfiring team has still done a pretty good job this season and is hanging in in all competitions.

There is massive pressure on Rangers at every game and I can see why trying to motivate the same players to raise their game again to the top for the 200th time can start to fall on deaf ears.

You can't punch above your weight in every fight, year after year.
