Or we could just go for it and attack everything since our strength is now up front whereas previous seasons our defence had been our strength. We don't have the defence to play one up front in Europe this year. Our route to the final in 2008 was based around Cuellar, Weir and McGregor, who for long periods were impassable. This year we can't afford to spend 80% of games defending. We're going to have to defend higher up and go for it at the right times. They won comfortably against Lille last night who are top of the French league. PSV also beat Sampdoria away from home. Mr Negative at it again You just look for faults. We all know things arent the same as ten years ago, but get over it and support the team. I can understand if you criticise formations etc Would you have posted the exact same thing 3 years ago at this stage?? Sporting are horrendous, but Portugal in general and supposed underachivers but havent won a thing. Lille are a french pub team. Sampdoria are still building. The peaks of the early 90s are a long gone from them. they have a good reputation but i cant even name 1 of there players these days. The Dutch league is terrible these days, and they beat Lille because I believe Lille had men sent off and their manager sent to the stand. Sampdoria are poor these days, 14th in Italy. They're no pub team, but being top of the French league doesn't always mean they're a great team. Rennes, who haven't won Ligue 1 in over 50 seasons of being in it are 2nd in the league only 2 points behind Lille and the current top 5 teams in the league are only separated by 4 points. The last time Lille won the league Eisenhower was the US President. In fact, you have to go back that far (almost 60 years) to find Lille winning any silverware in top flight French football. They were a cracking team in the 40's & 50's. Any team top of the French league at this stage clearly has plenty quality, their past lack of success is irrelevant.
